a note: i believe that UT2004 was used as reference because its still a popular game and for quite some time has shown CPU bottlenecks in all tests with recent GPU's.

i think conroe will be a hit in the market and of course i will get it. intel could be ahead of amd for next couple years if they keep price reasonable

E6700 (4mb L2) - $530 - £281.63
E6600 (4mb L2) - $316 - £167.92
E6400 (2mb L2) - $224 - £119.03
E6300 (2mb L2) - $183 - £97.24

That's converting the US prices, expect them to retail at about the US price (but in pounds, obviously) when they hit. :o

Don't expect them to be that cheap, the best way to get an idea of british prices is to convert US dollars to euro's. So I heard, new predicted prices:

E6700 (4mb L2) - $530 - £410
E6600 (4mb L2) - $316 - £240
E6400 (2mb L2) - $224 - £170
E6300 (2mb L2) - $183 - £140

That woukld be more like it.

around 250 for a E6600 is what I reckon they will be.

If the E6600 is around 240 I will definately be getting one.

So if it's more than £240 you won't get one?

Not sure TBH if they are like 300 odd quid I will wait I think.

But at 240 it will be to much temptation to tweak one and overclock the knacks of it! :p
