HI there

Check this out:-
CustomPC Benchmarks - OcUK 4th Place!!

OcUK has taken their air cooled Ultima AM2 PC and beaten many watercooled, vapochill and other extreme cooled PC's and landed into 4th place immediately with an aircooled PC's that customers can buy from this very website.

I am very happy with the results considering were not doing any extreme cooling here. :)

you need to clock it a bit could eaily take first place :) you cant be beaten by an fx 60 when you havd a 62 :D

Yeah but were on air cooling everybody else in the top 10 is using H20 or some other sort of extreme cooling.

Not bad, but i bet ya cant put a fruit pastel in your mouth without chewing it :D

Arent you running AM2 though?

Everyone else there is on 939.

Well done though mate, damn fine score considering it's air and off the shelf - so to speak.

Be interesting what they would get on a prommie or high end water.

Mind you Conroe will be the choice of the bencher soon i think.

It was also pretty quick at the windows XP install too...

just over 6 minutes from start to finish (RAID 0 150GB Raptors!!)

Is That a record???? lol

Just need to convince gibbo to let me build them like mine now!!!!::

wish i had a comp like that :o
how much did the build cost?

XP 64 Pro mate.

Full system spec as follows

AMD AM2 FX62 @3.1Ghz (312FSB) Ram at 12,5,5,5
All voltages almost at max
Asus M2M Nforce 5 mobo (590 SLi chipset)
2 X 1 Gb Corsair DDR 2 XMS 8500
2 X WD Raptor 150Gb in Stripe (Raid 0)
2 X 7900GTX 512 SLi
Tagan 900 Quad SLi PSU
Akasa 62 Case
Plextor 716AL DVD RW

It must be a combo of the stupidly fast Raptors and the ludicrous memory bandwith of the 312FSB. (you should see the Sisoft Sandra bandwith results - Gibbo should be posting a review soon)

Basically, it goes like a stabbed rat!!

From what we've seen, at stock settings its hardly any quicker than the FX60 but the DDR 2 Ram gives stupidly high memory bandwidth when dropping the multiplier and overclocking with the FSB. We struggled to clock it any higher with the board we had but I'm sure with time, newer BIOSes and drivers for this 'fledgling' chipset will yield impressive results.

One things for sure, we've seriously upset the boys on the custom pc leaderboard (myself included now I've dropped a place) who've spent £500 + on phase change cooling....lol

Are OcUK likely to have any PCs reviewed in CustomPC?

They've always got PCs from one of OcUK's main competitors (the one with the advert on the back cover) but never OcUK :(

I keep asking guys. I've had Custom PC since issue one and , I don't mind saying, I've learned a hell of a lot from it. It would certainly put the wind up Some Companies! lol

We hoped for higher than 3.1GHz but it just wouldn't have it. Temps rarely went over 40 degrees so we think its either the engineering sample chip we got to play with (retail will usually be more robust) or simply very early BIOS and drivers. As you say though, still quick.
