Just watched this movie and was very very surprised at how bloody good it is, I was expecting something pretty decent due to the cast and the original graphic novel but it was pulled off a lot better than I could have dreamed...definately one of the top 3 comic book adaptions around...the other 2 being X-Men and Batman Begins...closely followed by Sin City in 4th place!

Hugo Weaving's acting was so good that at times I was convinced the mask itself was moving, I have a newfound respect for him after his dire turn in LOTR...also a mention must go to Natalie Portman, didn't realise this girl was quite so talented and on a side note...she even looks sexy with a shaved head...whereas Sigourny and Moore just looked liked blokes :p

I can't recommend this movie enough...part of me thinks it wasn't well received due to the timing of it's release around the 7/7 attacks in london and a few key scenes...if you haven't seen it...please do

Is this film out to rent/buy?

I thought it was, bought a copy on fleabay quite cheaply, turned out to be a burnt screener, but what can ya expect for £1.99 :D...plus it's perfect DVD quality and i'm not completely anal about my DVD collection, although I will buy whatever super deluxe directors cut multi disk set type thing gets released of this

I really liked it, I didn't actually realise Hugo Weaving played V until I said to my friend, "Hey, he looks like Agent Smith" when you see his silhouette and you can just make out his hair, to which my friend told me it was him! :p

But yes, I really enjoyed the film, the ending was very good. I will definitely be buying it on DVD when it's released, if it isn't already.

On a par with Sin City in terms of 'best comic adaptation ev0r' but head and shoulders above it as a film.

I was expecting tripe when I saw who was going to be directing it but I was pleasantly surprised.

Watched this two nights ago - Really good film, kept me interested for the whole thing, which is a feat not many films acheive! Brilliant acting from Weaving and Portman. I'm suprised the critics didn't like it that much.

The critics were too busy sensationalizing 'omg this film endorses terrorism ban tbh' rather than reviewing a film which raises many interesting questions.

I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. I loved it in the cinema and I'm really looking forward to watching it again.

Any news on a UK special edition? I can't believe it's not being released in any form until July 31st!

It's great to see so many people who enjoyed it, before I watched it I had loads of people telling me it was rubbish, glad to see they were in a minority from the comments i've read here!

I guess i enjoyed it, purely because unlike so many - it was a film that made me think, it was quite clever and entertaining. I found V pretty funny and interesting and of course natalie portman mm, sooo cute.
7 / 10 for i, it did drag on a little too much for my liking, and got kind of slow

I was very shocked by it actually... having never read the comic nor read anything about the film (some how lol) I had no idea what it was about nor what to expect.

At the end I mulled over what I had seen and came to the conclusion that it was bloody good... however it wasnt a film where I sat there all the way through going "OMG THIS IS AWESOME" like you do in the first Matrix movie or Fellowship of the Ring.

Any one else thing the end bit with thousands of masked people was a sly poke at the last matrix film that had thousands of agent smiths.. both being hugo weavings character of course
