I recently spent too much money on a new computer case and monitor, as recommended by the fine people here! And after a 5 hour build in which I realised I didn't have enough fan extensions, here is the almost finished product!

WIDESCREEN!!!

I tell you, WoW in widescreen is just something else, I get far more gaming area uncluttered with UI rubbish, and more dragon on the screen at once!

And imo, its just prettier :p

The case is an Akase Eclipse, and it is simply massive! The measurements are [height 4miles, width 7km, depth <infinite>] ;)

Hopefully when I get home tonight the last few bits will have arrived so I can replace the CPU fan with a 92 amber, tidy the cables (the zalman controller in the bottom will go, as the extension will link the fan to the Nexus at the front (I had wanted a 3.5" akasa black, but no stock).

I also had my very first ever shot at stealthing.
It almost killed me.

Took a lot of filing, and the edges need a black marker taken to them, but they work, and thats what counts! The bottom drive needs to move back a little also, so everything is flush.

Once the cables/fans are sorted I will take more pics, I also intend to build new power cables (with my next paycheck...) to make that tidier - its something I've done before and is delightfully simple, if a little time consuming.

Hopefully more pics tonight!

Thank you all so much for the advice and the stealthing guide posted in my other thread, I'm deliriously happy with the result :-)

P.s.... buy a widescreen, best thing Ive bought in ages!

OH NO you might be making me spend money :o

Totally gorgeous :)

How're you finding it? (Sorry I'm asking about the monitor when emphasis is on the case, but I really like the price of the hanns-g :p )

Looking stunning. Nice job there. ;)

Ive noticed that your hard drives are mounted differently to mine? Did you use the bigger holes or the normal 3.5 side rails? If you get me?

I like what you have done with the drives, was it easy to do? do they work well?

I can see you've use the different wholes to normal....
Can't think why though..... lol.
Not that it matters :)

Quite a few people getting these at the moment, love mine to bits.
Except it sort of blocks the door a little with its size :p

I placed the drives so that the front fan is mostly unobstucted, whilst a little air still blows over them. I didnt think about which holes to use when I did this, I used the ones that were in the right place when I held the drive where I wanted it.

Does it matter in any way?

As for the stealthing, yes it was difficult - but only due to inexperience. If I had more spare covers I would re-do it slightly differently.

You know what? Looking at the picture here I am feeling the urge to turn all the hard drives over, so that the power cables are at the back.

I think that would lend itself to neatness quite well. HDD's ok upside down?

I heard sticking the disks in the centre of the fan is best, in line with the dead spot so air flows over and under the disk and is unobstructed from flowing to the rest of the case.

Yep I heard that too.

I never thought about those holes being for the hard drives! I really wanted them in the bigger holes as well. :)

Turning the hard drives round is a good idea, let me know how you get on. The drives will run fine upside down.

Very nice :)

I'm not sure what the big holes are for, maybe for heat dissipation?. I dont think they are for mounting the hdds as they are way too big. The slots are great as you can slide the hdd back and forth like with the optical drives to get it into the perfect position without having to take screws out.

Not that big, certainly not bigger than the head of the screw. Or mine would have fallen out by now :p
Mine must be different then as the holes in mine are like 9mm diameter. Mine is a year old now though so the design could have changed. I didn't get any big screws with mine either, just the normal sized ones in black and silver.
