Fair point.....they also omit the fact that acheiving orbit isnt just about altitude, its about velocity.

The fuel alone for a machine capable of that would be considerably more than £1000......

The object of it iirc, was to provide a low orbit platform solution, much like a HALE UAV, this incoperated with the correct weight calculations, solar panneling and the ability to regulate height could provide telecomms companies with a low cost solution alternative to satalites, which can only mean good things for the consumer.

Also they look pretty damn cool.

the weather balloon with a payload has been done countless times, they've done nothing new here - adding a rocket for £1000 and getting into actual space is not gonna happen...

Anglia Polytechnic Useless?

I'm sorry, but anywhere that has to bribe their students £2k to even go there can't be any good!

However, their primamry teacher training is pretty damned good - but ONLY because they bought out the college!
