Dunno if you guys saw my previous thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17639066

It died after that (wiped Hard Drive) http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17642008

I since re-installed Windows and everything else!...

Well I had everything running nice and stable till this weekend when!...

1) it took 20 minutes to get to the desktop, I rebooted - All was fine,
2) My USB Mouse wasn't picked up, Un-plugged and plugged back in -All was fine,
3) This morning, On pushing the power button, The processor fan starts, the hard drive starts... No Light on the Power Button, No POST, No Monitor, NOWT!... it just sits there spinning its wheels!...

Its an Advent T9002... Had it for 2 years! (so no warranty)

Does anybody have any Idea whats wrong??...
How can I fix it???...

The Wife needs her college coursework of the drive for tomorrow!..

I think it sounds like the motherboard, not really sure what you could do to save it. If you have anywhere to test the components one by one then you could establish which part it was then replace it accordingly. I take it you don't have anywhere to do that? Best thing would be to but a cheap motherboard off the MM or somewhere if it's socket A or 478.

I once had an advent, great off the shelf product, however i had the same problem as you, and it ended up being my motherboard.

Any chance you could unplug the hard drive, and take it to the IT department of either your work or even the college?

Worth a shot. If not last call would be a computer shop :P

Looks like the flippin Mobo then!... :(

At least I managed to get my wifes college work of the HDD... I just stuck it in my 10 year old K6II system and transfered it over to our 6 year old laptop from there!... Great when 'Dinosaur' Technology bails out the newer!..

As the HDD, CPU (s754 3400+) and RAM are fine I just need to find a Socket 754 motherboard now!... (can't afford new CPU, RAM and Mobo!)...

I'm lookin at either the ECS 755 (nearly the same model as the current board!, minus the Onboard VGA!) for £20 or the Abit NF8 for £30... is the Abit worth the extra £10 over the ECS?...
