I'm one of those people that likes to make things look like they're brand new all the time or for as long as possible, so needless to say when I noticed the smallest of scratches on my MacBook I want to get rid of it, trouble is, with such a clean white surface I'm too scared to try it without advice incase I make a much worse mark

Its a really small scratch, its not deep or anything, so how can I get rid of it?

I'm sure theres someone or maybe a few people on this boards who know how to tidy up surface scratches and other blemishes?

Any help would be much appreciated

P.S I accept this is pretty daft, but I spent a lot of money on it, I like to look after it :p

Brasso.

Sounds crazy, but if you rub on the stuff with a lint free cloth, leave it settle for 5 minutes then polish off with a different cloth (preferrably lint free also) then it comes up as good as new :D

I know this because I used to clean my 60GB iPod in the same manner.

...Just don't panic about the yellowy/orange colour when applying Brasso.. it WILL disappear.

I thought it was just me who was mad and felt like that. I'm going to get some stuff for cleaning the screen, as my keyboard marks it when i close it  And i find it so hard to clean, i'll probably get something to put inbetween them both.

Actually, I know how you both feel as I have OCD.. sadly!

I have bought and owned around 5 iPod's and none of them had their clear-skin removed in the whole time I owned them !

I just like seeing things neat, and keeping good care of them is a step towards that.. it can rule your life if you let it go too far though :(

@Macca.. why don't you go down to a foam cutters and get them to cut you a thin slice to shove between the screen and the keys?.. could always etch your name in too (although they'd probably charge you for the latter)

Haha my iPod was the same...Getting a new one for christmas, well just now i'm using the thing that came with it. But i just opened it up to see some marks

Does my head in, maybe i need to clean the keyboard with something.

Hmmm.

It would apear that the beveled letters are causing the unusual marks because they stick out so much. I suggest some sort of thicker foam or an old tshirt if you're worried :)

I have the tucano second skin case, it comes with a small piece of fabric that goes onto the keys, it does work wonders, apart from it picks up bits of fluff which stick to the screen till I wipe it :)

I really need to grab myself some screen cleaning stuff

..that sounds like more of a static charge issue.

You could try some anti-static screen wipes.. Mr Sheen does them :)

I have found it enough to take off the keys (carefully) and wash them in warm soapy water / dishwash them.

So long as it doesn't contain a form of acid you should be ok :)
