Vista ---- the correct version ?

I went for 32 bit. Out of all the threads I read on this forum, no-one could come up with a decent reason for getting 64 bit other than the fact that 64 bit will be the standard in a few years' time. Seeing as you need better hardware [i.e. ideally 4GB of RAM] to really make the use of 64-bit with games I went with x86.

I'll probably change my mobo in two-years' time and will think about getting 64-bit then and doing further hardware upgrades. For now I know 32-bit will work near perfectly on my system, especially since I'll have 2 GB of RAM next week.

Oh, and I can't be arsed to naff about waiting for the 64-bit drivers.

What hardware upgrades? Everything in your system is 64 bit compatible

there are threads all over OcUK about this, i still think x64 is the way to go as the drivers should all appear swiftly with it being launched at the same time as x86 version not the catastrophy that was xp64! because of that i'll be wombeling myself down to OcUK at 2pm today to collect my Ultimate X64 Oem disk!

Meh, i'm sticking with the 32bit until I buy a new MB, just ordered my Vista in 32bit, should get it for thuesday :)
I wasn't really planning on getting it already but a broken MB (replacement on the way) meant that I had to get a new OS, oh well, seems like I can run everything I did on XP on it :p

Indeed, but for me it's more about RAM. Seeing as I'll have 2GB of RAM next week, 32-bit Vista should fly along in nearly all apps and games, whereas I'd want to go up to 4GB for 64-bit.

Seeing as I don't want to spend any more cash on hardware upgrades and I know 32-bit will be as smooth as Yul Brynner's pate, this is the way for me.

mmm still not sure about the 64 version , the thing that worries me is my motherboard drivers , aol , and my 8800GTS drivers including the drivers to my G7 gaming mouse and MX Revolution drivers and not forgetting X-Fi Fatal1ty drivers , what the upside to 64 , any down side to using 32bit version

while everyone here says install 64-bit I still recommend against it for around 8-12 months until drivers are out. Even most reviews are stating you'll have a years wait before decent working 64-bit vista drivers are out, there are also still compatibility problems with some applications even now.

So what the main difference between the 64 bit & 32 bit version if any

I want to buy the Home Premium version but not sure 64 or 32 version ?

Why are you lot talking like there is going to be lack of x64 drivers?

When ever x86 drivers comout microsoft wont accept them unless they make x64 bit drivers too. Thats what I have gatherd, so if your saying theres going to be a lack of x64 your actually saying theres going to be a lack of x86 then. Yes?

I went with 64 bit HP Vista, reason being 4GB ram and 4GB USB flash drive (READYBOOST compatible).64 bit is the future and has better security, also I have two other PCs with 32 bit XP so I won't have any real problems.

Side note: a few friends of mine are running 64 bit XP and have no problems with drivers or gaming.

I think some people will check and see what drivers are available before installing their Vista, which would be the sensible thing to do.

Yes i agree with you too, very good points you brought up ,plus in 2 years time when its x64 bit you will have all the hardware in place .. ;)

yes maybe so ,but its the driver issues as well, plus is there a need at present for x64 bit until its been running a few more years ?

Hi,

So should people go 32 bit or 64 bit?

Difficult decision to make!!!!!!!
I,d say search the net to see if your hardware will have x64 drivers ,if so go x64.
