First off, no real pictures as they wouldnt be interesting and i didnt have time/couldnt be bothered to take any.

Upgraded my brakes this morning, larger calipers/discs and put new pads on my car, from 260 to 282mm discs and the calipers are a good bit bigger. Standard the front brakes are very poor, feel is better, more controlable and progressive through the travel of the pedal and they stop a lot harder. :)

Next step is braided lines, and when i have time will clean them up and paint the calipers, probably black. Currently ones muck coloured and the others painted red badly but they are all but hidden under the standard 15" SEI alloys as i dont have my straights on as i spent all my pennies buying that coupe i showed people a few weeks back. The brembos from that are going on a friends car, i got his old setup.
Click if you missed it!

Second thing i got round to doing is changing the dashboard to the later mk3 bubble style dashboard, was a pain, have most of it done now but i need to get the steering wheel centred, takes a while because the battery needs to be left d/c for half hour or so due to the airbag....

Switches need wiring up as they are different.

When replacing my clocks one of the bulbs has died, its either the bulb or the wiring, but its a right pain as they aint a 5 minute job to change, is only temperature but it will need doing at some point! :(

All in all a good day, lots done and the brakes are a good step up.

Seems you were all thrilled, well i finished off everything i could do on the dashboard today.

The loom i got doesnt have the molex for the clock on so thats on the to do list, and i need to wire up the rear fogs to a mk3 switch but that requires some work doing to get it to work properly as they are different to the mk2s. As its been foggy currently ive just got the mk2 switch on there dangling from the dash and ill sort it soonish. The adjustable mirror switch needs a home, but again its not a biggy, adjust the mirrors once and your good!

The mk3 dash doesnt have a dampened glove box, i took the damper off the mk2 dash so i plan to try and fit this to the box to finish it off a bit better instead of it clanking open and closed.

Got the steering wheel lined up straight and changed it for a leather one, mine was a plastic'y one before. I took the airbag off and took a gamble that you would be able to drive the car without it attached, so could drive around and adjust the wheel etc till it was straight. :)

And the brakes, just showing the clearance on the 15" wheels.

Just needed to get it all finished, im going away this weekend and its MOT time next week!

People are more interested in replying to "What generic eurobox should I waste 15 grand on?" threads ;)

Loving that dash, really big improvement!

Have you got any pictures of the original dash for comparison?
Yeah, here you go, lose some space with the new dash, but when i get the other parts i need ill be on the lookout for the dash pocket to replace the airbag blank.

does looks loads better :D , is it still the same dash in the zs's?

The mk3 dash was the best thing about my 211. Feels good the soft touch stuff doesn't it? I've got a dash insert & dial surround if you want to have them to spray up (handy to have a spare in case of naffing it up) :)

Looks loads better :)

I've always liked the Rover 200 Coupes too

The Mk3 200 dash is the same as in the Mk 1 ZR - the ZS is based on the 400/45 so shares its dash

Pity its a hatch ;)

Wont have time to finish the dash for a few weeks yet, need to get to the scrappers and dont have the time to, but its tidy enough for the moment.

Thanks for the offer Bri with the dash insert, but ill just snaffle the extra bits next time i go to the scrappers looking for a dash pocket and a few bits. :)

Real improvement there and no easy task replacing an entire dashboard and makig it all fit :)
It is a pretty easy task with the 200s actually, the bubble shape dash fits straight in to any mk2 200, the only messing you have to do with with the dash loom for the plugs and clock. I know as I did the same upgrade on my silver coupe, really much get around to doing it with the charcoal one as you're right, it looks so much better.

Its a common swap to do, with a helpful guide available from rovertech, hardest part was getting the clocks back in, need someone to help feed the speedo cable through into the cabin and then pull it back as you push the clocks back into place. The wiring requires all the wires to be cut and then soldered up differently to the new molex connectors and the mk3 style switches.

The brakes were fairly easy to do also as they swapped straight over, used the wrong torque setting on a pair of bolts and snapped them in two. Ooops!

Swore lots until realised we could use the sliders from the old set of calipers as a replacement as they were identical fortunatly, then just topped up the fluid, pumped the pedal a few times to get some feel back, got the discs de-rusted as they had stood for a while and then had a little run up and down a dual carriageway with some progressive braking.
