BFG 8800 Ultra Vs 8800 GTX ?!?!!!

Okay so thinking about a new card and just noticed some interesting things -

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail - £399.49 - Core 626mhz, Shader 1450mhz, Mem 2000mhz

BFG GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail - £528.74 - Core 612mhz, Shader 1500mhz, Mem 2160mhz


So for a slightly lower clocked core, 50 mhz on the shaders and 160mhz on the memory we are paying £128 more?

Are you serious BFG?!?! Maybe I missed something but I dont think so. Does

Nvidia/BFG think we are completely stupid?

Maybe it is just a good price on the GTX?
 
maybe not but then why don't they just not buy the chips at stupid prices knowing their customers are not complete muppets. Sadly I know there is a few muppets out there with more money than sense but the majority of people when presented with the numbers should take note.

That's what I thought also. Just buy a GTX and clock it. :) Pocket the difference.
 
Some people will fork out for it regardless of price just because they can. As aforementioned, BFG aren't stupid, people are.

Its not worth a lot more, that's true. But it's a bit more than just an overclocked GTX. It has a newer core revision, that uses less power at the higher core speed. It also has very fast ram 0.8ns, all better for potential overclocking.

but i bet you can get a even nicer overclock out of the ultra that will leave the GTX behind but still not worth the money, but then again if money was no object course i would have one ;)

You can't really compare the two unless the ultra is overclocked aswell. Sure an overclocked GTX has similar performance to the ultra stock but what if the ultra is also overclocked (if it does indeed overclock)?

I guess your right in a sense, but I wonder how well it does clocked? Is it not pushed pretty far already? Sooo many questions! :D
 
We won't know until someone buys one. I cant see many GTX owners 'upgrading' unless its for bragging rights.

Get the gtx and keep the extra £128 and spend it on beer :p
