The reason I ask is that my sister was sitting in her room just now with her window wide open and suddenly something fly in. First I know was her scream. I had a look in and saw something flying around quite irratically like a moth would. But when it settled down it was no moth. It had a hard body like a beetle/cockroach does. I've never even seen a cockroach in this country. Seen a few beetles but I've never known them to fly before. The bugs are taking over I tell you!

Most likely that then. I only saw its squashed remains on a wad of toilet paper. I swear these enery saving lights attract bugs a hell of a lot more than ordinary filament lights.

Just looking at the fluorescent lights you can see that the white light from the bulb is a lot more towards the blue part of the spectrum ('clinical' looking) that a normal filament lamp ('warm' - because of the amount of red/yellow). So there's probably more UV which they love from the fluorescent ones.

Cuddly :p

I remember watching a prog on the telly a few years ago where a bunch of biologists went out into the rainforest with a white sheet and a bright light looking for a goliath beetle I think it was.

There was an almighty thump when it land on the sheet and the thing was huge.

Jokester
