Well this morning it was still floating in the toilet, dead. The main body, legs etc looked just like a cockroach, just with wings. I doubt I'll ever know what it was for certain. It's dead and gone, that's all I'm bothered about.

Stag beetles , loveryly when they fly smack into your head... i swear they shouldnt have been given wings they cant even fly straight =\
I think a cockchafer and a mayfly are the same thing.Rich said:Sounds like a Mayfly to me.... freakish things...
They are an endangered species so there aren't many of them around these days. Whatever you do don't step on one, you can get in serious trouble for it.Logic Zero said:I haven't seen a stag beetle in years

No-One said:The reason I ask is that my sister was sitting in her room just now with her window wide open and suddenly something fly in. First I know was her scream. I had a look in and saw something flying around quite irratically like a moth would. But when it settled down it was no moth. It had a hard body like a beetle/cockroach does. I've never even seen a cockroach in this country. Seen a few beetles but I've never known them to fly before. The bugs are taking over I tell you!
I used to see loads around 10 or so years ago, I haven't seen one in ages.Logic Zero said:I haven't seen a stag beetle in years
