Do Beetles/cockroaches fly?

Well this morning it was still floating in the toilet, dead. The main body, legs etc looked just like a cockroach, just with wings. I doubt I'll ever know what it was for certain. It's dead and gone, that's all I'm bothered about. :)

Some Beetles do. Cockroaches don't.

Actually, Cockroaches do fly. There are different kinds, the ones in the tropic do definitely fly IF needed but it mainly a crawler.

when i was in majorca 2 years ogo, there was flying cockroches all over the place, they flew around the outside terraces in the resturants

bloody huge discusting things, like lancaster bombers flying past just as i was about to tuck into my fruite de mere

We have flying 'Roaches here in Darwin.
Evil buggers they are too, seen some around 5cm long in the house. I dont see them fly often, not even when you try to stamp them out! I think they fly more when they are younger and not so heavy.

I think a cockchafer and a mayfly are the same thing.

I haven't seen a stag beetle in years
They are an endangered species so there aren't many of them around these days. Whatever you do don't step on one, you can get in serious trouble for it.

The reason I ask is that my sister was sitting in her room just now with her window wide open and suddenly something fly in. First I know was her scream. I had a look in and saw something flying around quite irratically like a moth would. But when it settled down it was no moth. It had a hard body like a beetle/cockroach does. I've never even seen a cockroach in this country. Seen a few beetles but I've never known them to fly before. The bugs are taking over I tell you!

Probably a cockchafer.

take it from a Brit, who lives in Australia (just now anyway!) Cockraoches do fly, people in Queensland leaving the pub at night walk under the streetlights to keep away from them ...

its true, i have seen this myself ...
