I bought this game today from my local retailer...

Has anyone else bought this game and how it's running on your system ???

(Am only just about to install it now)

Bought this off steam the other day but need to do other things tonight as download speeds of there atm are pretty poo but i did have the game on the 360 awhile back but decided to get it for pc as i really enjoyed the single and especially multiplayer on it and also to run it on my recently bought rig in my sig in directx10.

Yeah chaparral download speeds are anything between 0meg! and 4meg for me off steam!!. It downloads for abit then stops downloading.

I would have pre-loaded it the other day off steam but it always kept saying that steam servers where to busy to pre-load lost planet blah blah.

Looks like on and off this is still the case lol..but ive got other things to do tonight so im just gonna leave it running and check back later on.

Dunno yet m8 but i get the feeling it probably will fluctuate between 60fps and 20fps lol...but seriously that will most likely be the case if the demo was anything to go by.

They did say performance for this game was improved with the forceware 162.15 beta drivers for vista that were pulled by nvidia.

Ive got them installed atm and dont seem to have any problems with them but will probably have to wait till tommorow to try full version of lost planet in directx10 because steam download speed are crap atm. :(

yea the demo ran damn slow, typical port behaviour. but iv read reports on the net that the full game performs a lot better. will have to see this to believe it though.
iv have to get this game and check it out. may see if i can pick it up later on today.

i've just brought it from my local games shop.

tried installing it but all i get is "your purchase is still being processed-steam will notify you when the transaction has been completed. untill then, this game is not available to play".

what are they playing at, all i want to be able to do is buy a game, install it and play it, not to be messing around with stupid online accounts and downloads.

makes me want to go back to the simplicity of console gaming.

Took me about 3 hours to install my retail copy of this game  (see my posts above)

Most peole have not got and should not have to wait about 3 hours just to install a game they bought on a DVD-rom...

Lucky you! I really want this game for Xbox & PC.

Hmmm, only 17.99 for PC... tempting for my new PC :D

IGN just posted a review and gave it 5.8 :(

http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/800/800283p1.html

5.0 Presentation
Confounding story with characters as flat as the wall beside you. The user interface and rest of the package is serviceable.
8.5 Graphics
Provided you have a powerful system, the visuals are overwhelmingly attractive - so much so you'll be tempted to overlook what the gameplay lacks.
7.0 Sound
Poor voice acting is counterbalanced by booming explosion effects and crisp weapon sounds.
6.0 Gameplay
The T-Eng mechanic is interesting. As for the rest, boss battles only count for so much. Inconsistent controls, though smoothed out on PC, still prove bothersome.
4.0 Lasting Appeal
The few multiplayer modes are plagued by the awkward animations and aiming mechanics of offline play, and they don't seem to be working right now. Not much reason to replay the campaign.

5.8 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

And Gamespot has given it a 7

Finally got it downloaded via steam..(took all night crap steam server speeds) and the game with everything maxed in dx10 apart from shadows which are set to medium because high hammers the frame rate runs between 30-60fps so pretty good.

The problem i have now though and im getting sick of steam tbh is that i played a mp game and the screen went blank then after getting back to the desktop i cant even connect to steam again because i get the "steam has stopped working" crap.
