Tommy Emmanuel being supported by Andy McKee. They're doing a small tour in November.

Got my tickets booked for the show in Bristol.

Anybody else going? :D

I'm going, but not sure which one yet. He said he was touring with Tommy when I saw him earlier in the year. It's definitely going to be a night to remember. Just need Antoine DuFour, Don Ross and Justin King there and I'll explode!!

Ah, a man with taste. ;)

You probably know that Don was one of Andy's main inspirations then?

This is one of my favourite videos of guitar playing. Andy McKee's composition 'Rylynn' which is beautiful when he plays it solo. But with Don Ross and Michael Manring playing as well, it's just awesome.

yeah, he was talking about it at his show - I also know that Keys to the Hovercar was inspired by Metroid :o were you there was well? I'll have to check that video a bit later - no sound on this damn computer :(

Oh. :(

And no, I haven't had the pleasure of witnessing Andy McKee in the flesh yet. That's why I'm so excited. :D Tommy is probably my biggest influence, and idol, so seeing him by himself is awesome enough. But to be supported by someone like Andy McKee, with such a unique style, is such an awesome bonus. Tommy's support is usually top notch though. The last times I've seen him he had Johnny Dickinson and Richard Smith. Both were fantastic.

I don't know if you've heard of Michael Hedges, but he was really the pioneer to all of the percussive steel string playing. Most of the techniques that Andy uses, such as slap harmonics, or moving his hand over the neck of the guitar and playing it the other way, were created by Hedges. You could check him out of you haven't already, he was really really good.

I've not heard of Michael Hedges - I'll check him out when I've got an internet connection back at home!

It's be really nice if it was a small, intimate show like the one I saw. Andy seemed like a really nice bloke, incredibly humbled by the people who'd gone to see him, even though there was probably less than 100 people there. It was a really nice evening!

I know I'm sig-pimping him right now, but if you're into that sort of thing and haven't listened already, Newton Faulkner is a bit Mckee-esque - does the whole body-tapping thing, but he sings as well. The album's definitely worth a listen.

Cool, I just happened to be checking out some of their videos on Youtube aswell. Missed Tommy when he was up here last year, right on my doorstep too. Might have to go see...

Well, If I can be bothered it looks like I'll have to go all the way to Coventry or Bolton. Erik Mongrain has some good tunes too. Cheers for the headsup anyway naffa
