Please be very careful as the Punkbuster lot may actually change their stance on this and it could lead to your account being disabled.

I just gave it a quick go on BF2, it does indeed correctly change your FOV but (and its a pretty big but), it also effects iron sights in an unusual manner. Whenever I look down my iron sights or scope and try to look around it becomes very jerky, it resembles lag, almost identical actually. I couldn't hit anything.

Here's hoping this is corrected, because the difference between cropped wide screen and real WS is massive.

Did you play with the update slider a bit? Apparently if it is too low it can mess it up.

Yep, set it to 20, then 50 and 100. Couldn't make out any difference to be honest.

Have you tried it? I'm not the only one getting this am I?

Do you have to remove the code from the BF2.exe shortcut?

I have no idea - I would guess that it works in conjunction with the command line. It just appears to resample the display and correct the FOV.

It doesn't seem to make any difference this app to mine.

In the shortcut under Target I have "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Is this correct? Then I run the app, select 16:10 and press the * to enable fix?

I didn't get rid of my old command to crop the vert, so mine is "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Open the app, chose the game (make sure you select the appropriate patch), select your aspect ratio (16:10 for me), drop the slider to 20 if you want and play the game. * to change FOV.

wouldn't 'proper' widescreen give widescreen users an advantage in online games as they have a wider Field of view?

Well by that logic we had a disadvantage before this fix because we had the top and bottom chopped off.

This is a very welcome and important fix, and I will be reinstalling BF2 tonight in celebration!

So tell me if I'm doing this right?

I have a 19" ws monitor so i keep my game settings in BF2 at 1440 x 900.

Start up the program set it to BF2 @ 16:10 and start the game, is it that easy?

totally, its basically a hack that gives you a wider FOV and im pretty sure it will get flagged as a cheat by ea & punkbuster so be careful

i can remember how FOV was used in tribes changing it from the standard 90 upto 110-120 ... it was a simple script that anyone could use and was accepted by the whole community

shame this isnt an option ingame that everyone can use

Thats looks a lot better to me...Ive been waiting for this for ages...but as I play in some competitive matches..I dont think I can use this until it has been approved by the Gods at be. Nice find!
