macbook charger problem

My macbook was charging fine last night. When I shut it down the battery was on 100% so I pulled the charger out of the macbook but left it plugged in at the mains.

Today my macbook won't charge, the tiny light on the charger does not come on. I've checked the plug socket and it's fine and I've also replaced the fuse in the plug but with no effect.

I have noticed that the light is flashing orange very faintly on the charger, nowhere near its usual brightness.

I'm guessing and hoping that this is a charger problem not a macbook problem... will it be covered under warrantee?

since august + I have applecare in any case. Problem is I'm at my mum's house for a few days, I need to get uni work done but I don't have my receipt or anything to take into an apple store.

I've never needed a receipt, they look up the serial number of your MacBook on their computers and all the relevant info is there :)

Yeah. When i bought my MBP from the Apple store in Glasgow they asked 'you just want your receipt e-mailed to you?'

So i just got that done. :) Receipts FTL lol

have left it off for about 5 hours and just tried it again but it's definitely gone. grrr! Worst thing is I'm in devon at the moment and the only shop I can access is an 'apple premium reseller' who will have to send the charger off to apple, so I may as well just wait until monday when I can go to a proper store. So annoyed that it's just randomly failed, it doesn't appear damaged in any way externally and it's not been dropped or mistreated.

Looking on the apple store, there's a lot of bad reviews for these things.

Same thing happened to my MBP (on christmas day no less, took weeks to get a replacement!).

It actually turned out the plug head was knackered, not the psu itself. If you, try a bog standard figure of 8 mains lead on it (the type u get with a lot of electricl stuff, PS2s/xbox etc.). Plug the cable into the psu BEFORE plugging in the mains plug, and before you turn on the mains. I found the plugs are very sensitive and just blow easily.

On the upside, the new psu i receieved was a lot smaller, must be a new revision lol. They should normally be able to get one to you in 3-5 days i think, just mine was at christmas so royal mail were about as efficient as a pedal powered wheelchair.

Not surprising. Who's going to logon to the Apple Store just to say "I've had my MacBook Pro for 2 years and the charger is still fine"

True, on the other side of the coin, there could be no or very few reviews at all, rather than numerous negative reviews.

Anyway - I went to a Mac store today and we discovered that there's a problem with the charging circuit on the macbook, so I need a new logic board.

However I've just come home, tried it one more time and the bloody thing is charging now! argh. It will probably go wrong again, hopefully after I've my essay in due a week today.

If mine is working perfectly why am I likely to look at the chargers bit of the Apple store? Not many people buy second chargers in my experience.

It's those with the busted chargers who likely bought a new one from the Apple store, got annoyed by the price and then started calling it names...
