Recommend me a cooling system

Hi
Anyone out there that can help with a cooling problem ? I have a 3 year old SFF PC ( IDEQ 210P ) fitted with a AMD 3700+ CPU ADA3700AEP5AR on a socket 754 SFF Motherboard K8NBP GRAND with a manufacturers heatsink and fan. The CPU is not over clocked and it’s standard manufacturers spec.
The problem is that in recent months the PC has been prone to freezing , and after hours of fault diagnosing , I’ve established that when the CPU is put under load ( a game or virus checker for instance ) then the Heat Sink becomes extremely hot to touch and hence the PC just locks up.
The PC comes with software which is supposed to increase fan speed as the load increases , and to an extent it does ,however it doesn’t seem to react fast enough hence the problem.
I downloaded speedfan of the Net and manually set the fans ( Case , CPU ) to 100% and BINGO! no more problems , however the noise is excessive . Ideally I want a more efficient and quieter cooling system . Can anyone advise one which will install onto my existing MB and using the existing spring and clip retaining arm ? I’ve got a few photo’s which shows the MB and current fan and heatsink , but haven't worked out yet how to upload them on here . LOL

Many Thanks

John

Welcome to the forums.
Claimed.

If your PC isn't overclocked, and has been running fine for years, then the hardware you have is sufficient.

If I were you, I would clear dust out of your case and out of your fans and heatsinks. Then re-seat your CPU cooler with some good thermal paste (MX-2 is meant to be the best atm) and see if that gets temps what they used to be.

If the above doesn't work, then it's time to buy a new cooler.

Hi Ben
Been there done that !!
Thanks for the advice , already tried all what you suggested but to no avail , I may have a problem with the thermistor in the CPU but as its a rare beast to replace it would be over £100 , so a better cooler seems to be the cheapest option.

Thanks Ben
Had a quick look , and not too worried about the cost , but they seem incompatible with the motherboard , the existing cooler has a flat plate of say 30mm x60mm and is clamped down using an arm on the MB , is it poss to send you a few pics ? you will see exactly what I mean then
Thanks for your help
John

What is your motherboard?
If you could post some pics on here that'd be good.

To post pics on the forum register with imageshack, dowload your pictures then use the code imageshack supply to post on these forums.
As you say your pc is small form facture then the second one which Ben m suggested should work as it's designed for socket 754!

I'm pretty sure that you don't need to register with imageshack.

OK you wont be able to get a new HS/F that will fit. I would suggest either swapping the fan, or probably better off whacking an intake fan on the side of the unit.

Like so.....

This should suck some cool air in right to the cpu cooler, to blow hopefully cool air over the HS rather than hot air! The next problem comes in exhausting the air, i would recommend a 80-120mm converter and a silent 120mm on the back sucking out. This is how i had my 200N setup many many moons ago and worked a treat.

This is assuming the 210 has the same layout inside.

I have a couple of IDEQ SFFs (330P) and the software they come with is called SystemControl. It's configuration file can be edited to control the fan speeds more efficiently.

If your IDEQ 210P also uses SystemControl, upload the SysCtrl.ini file somewhere so I can download it and also post here the "M/B Model" it shows at the bottom left of the SystemControl window so I know which section to look it.
