PC lockup

afternoon

ive had a bad WD 500gig strage drive for a while, even though it functions fine, it fails the WD diagnostics tool, i have had lockups in games and on desktop so many times recently, could this dodgy storage drive be the problem?

you could try using a different hd and see if the problem stops?

If your pagefile is on that drive, set it to 0MB or move it to a different drive, reboot and then set the pagefile back to its previous settings. This will re-create it.

I had a nightmare a couple of months back with a corrupted pagefile giving me really bad performance issues.

Glad to hear it. When it happened to me I immediately panicked because it was a 750GB Seagate almost full with important data. I bought a 1000GB as a reflex action the same day as I thought it was a race to get the data off before the disk failed.

Just a dodgy pagefile in the end and it's been fine since. I have loads of free storage now though so at least I can keep two copies of important stuff!

Make sure you back up all your important data....i had a drive fail on me completely shortly after an episode like this!
