I'd say get the X2 - the 295 is good, but not worth the extra cash IMO. My X2 is enough to run everything on the market maxed out at 1920x1200 with 4+ xAA.

I have a single 4870 running my hans-g 28" (1920x1200), same res as a 24". A 4870x2 would be overkill for that res, nevermind a 295.

ATM i run everthing on full settings, and not noticed any bad FPS in anything. Not really benchmarked anything either tho.

The X2 might be 70quid cheaper but with it you get a lifetime of driver issues with newer games and less FPS then even a 285GTX on 'The way its ment to be played' Games. Not to mention the 295 is a stronger, less heat generating, less power consuming card anyway.

The X2 should be enough to run anything at that res and setting but not Nvidia games like Crysis.

You're talking complete carp. The X2 does not have a 'lifetime of driver issues' at all. Do you own one? Quite blatantly not. So shut up.

I've had one since September, and it has blasted every game I've run on it into the weeds, including running Crysis at 1920x1200, with 4xAA.

Obviously you're pulling facts out of thin air, based on some nonsensical loyalty to a company that in the end, only cares about its profits, not about you. :)

I like Nvidia cards better too, but at the end of the day the card that sits in my rig is the one that gives the best value for money.

How would you know i didn't own one? Seems like your the own taking facts out of thin air. And anyway, even if i didn't own one, just read some forums and see the number of people with problems with catalist drivers.

X2, it's 97% what the 295 is at £100 less.

Corrected :D

But yeah buy an X2.

If you have read so many of these 'threads' then you might know how to spell Catalyst then

Just the way you wrote that post really. No backing up of facts or any reasoning. You can't really complain about driver issues when I've seen as many people complaining about Nvidia cards this week as ATi cards.

Also, one of the OcUK chaps said that ATi cards were outselling Nvidia's by 5 to 1, at least for a while, so bear in mind the higher probability of problems because of the bigger sample.

A large number of reviews and my own personal experience states that the X2 is a great performer, so I'm afraid that's all I can go on :)

Only downside with the X2 is its noisy under load. Mine was great once water cooled.

Pretty much overkill either way. A GTX 280/285 would run everything and if you have an SLI board you can add another one when needed.

I had 2 x 4870's in Xfire which I replaced with a GTX 295 and all I can say is wow. I know I cant compare it with the 4870X2 as I have never owned one but the GTX295 is sooooooooo quiet.

Crysis needs more GPU power to max it out, as Warhead was optimized a bit more. I think that Crysis still looks nicer when maxed out.
