1 X 24" Acer LCD Monitor, (will be upgrading to HD monitor soon but it will only be 22" which is a bit of a bummer)

well, thats the specs of the rig, round about the best £2K (give or take) i've ever spent. I'm quite pleased with it but i don't think there will be much room left to upgrade anything in the next few months until new hard ware starts coming onto the market. lol, i've not enameled the plugs or chairs with anything, thats them in their natural state, though i must admit that i do like cases/hardware that look unusual or out of the ordinary but thats just me but i think the camera was a bit crap to be honest, its only a crappy little mobile phone camera, and in all honesty it looks better in the dark :).

I'm pretty sure that it does'nt. The resolution that i am using at the minute is 1680 X 1050. I have seen an Asus High Definition (HD) monitor going for just under £200 which is very good value for money but it's only 22".
 
22" monitors usually only go up to 1680 x 1050, which could be considered 'HD', so that monitor might still just have that max resolution. I'm pretty sure your 24" should be capable of 1900x1200, do you have the correct graphics drivers installed?
 
haha the pics make the stuff look green but in further back shot I can see that the sub is actually black. Weird effect.

As for the system when did you build it? I think the PSU is a bit overkill.
 
i've built it over a period of several months (i started about 1 year ago) since i could only afford the parts a month at a time but i bought the stuff when they were premium parts, If the I7 had'nt come out when they did most of this stuff would be considered top spec but even then i've heard that the processor that i am using now is still better than the I7 for gaming and in all honesty the parts have not come down that much in price between now and when i bought them. I'm not sure that i agree that the parts are old tech though, old socket maybe but not old tech, most systems i've seen still opperate on DDR2 and normal magnetic HDD's, the graphics card is also pretty much up to date for ati. I've just had a look at the OC shop and even though some of these products are no longer sold by OCuk (PSU, Graphics Card, Memory and Monitor) an equivical system would still, even now cost £1.7K to build the only difference would be that the memory would have to be 1600Mhz instead of 1333Mhz (which could be a bad thing for that motherboard).

The ati cards have come down a lot in price over the past year. I spec'ed a machine out about 6 months ago and didn't buy. Now I got a 4870 1gb card for a lot less money than the 512mb was then. The £ may have dropped a lot but lucky for us these components aren't made in the US!

come to think about it this might actually be 22" i can't remember right since i threw out all of the instruction manuals/boxes etc... months back, all that i know is that its an acer/2ms response time bought off OCUk about 8 months ago. If i remember right i bought it as a budget monitor since my last one started developing dead pixels. I can't find out any more information about it since i threw away all the packaging and manuals and it does'nt say anything on the monitor itself. I know that i have confused 22" for 24" inch before now because i could'nt tell much difference. a lot of things have happened between now and then anyway in my own personal life that has distracted me from upgrading my rig.

i tell ya one thing herr brush, that's always going to be the way. makes me wonder how much the X2's will fall by when the 4900's come out, but the price drop usually only applies to graphics cards. Everything else remains pretty much static for quite a time, the only thing thats dropped substantially in price lately is DDR3 memory and monitors. The processor that i am using and the motherboard has'nt really depreciated in price all that much, probably by around £20 here or there.
