I'm using windows XP sp3 but I believe it will be irrelevant.

What settings plz? I do have a clue but don't want hassle after I start trying to install the new OS.

I'm reinstalling since I have an Asus Xonar replacing onboard sound, a G15 USB replacing a M$ natural comfort curve serial and a new Hitachi 7k100.b 1Tb dr

making 2 threads mm (this one had more useful info thought)

top option should be set to disable so its in IDE/SATA mode for XP (AHCI/RAID need F3 driver for XP), if useing Vista or higher AHCI is recommended (no driver needed) but should install the motherboard drivers (from the web site not CD) once windows has been installed

the next one down from that should be enabled unless the XP disk does not detect the HDD

I have just read the manual (downloadable from giga-byte.com) and I'm going to enable/set to AHCI/SATA first 2 and 3rd one from bottom.

if your using XP set it to IDE mode on the sata, No drivers are needed on XP if set to that mode (the Defaults in the Bios should let you install windows XP you only have to change it if your using AHCI with Vista or 7)
