I'm going to pre-order it now for a penny, not played it since the game designers split up.

Done; I've hardly played FM09, think I'm falling slightly out of love with football management games at the moment, and couldn't really justify buying a full price one this year. Worth it for £2.51 though!

EDIT: Hmm, I got a server error after clicking pay; the money's come out of my bank account. Is there any way to check whether the preorder went through?

Careful, they still charge you even tho you get the error. Best bet is to email them to make sure the payment went through and your pre-order was successful.

Actually it does seem to have gone through; if I log out and log back in, then click on "zone 3 - download area" it's in that, so hopefully it's worked!

I bet for £2.51 it still won't be great though, I'm sure anyone that's interested in football management sims will be getting FM10

Indeed, hopefully they'll get the message that even if you give it away, people don't want to play it.

I think they probably believe (mistakenly or not, we'll find out) that they have improved the game sufficiently so it is now a match for FM. By doing this this year, they ought to get their market share back up to an acceptable level, and provided the game is up to scratch will be able to charge full price next year and gain on Sports Interactive.

Is it bad that I really can't be bothered with it?

FM all the way!

Nope, you're doing the right thing! It was supposed to be 'better' this year but I looked into it a lot and it seems just as poor as always.

£2.51 is cheap though if anyone does want to give it a try.

I don't think they'll challenge Football Manager, they haven't for since Football Manager came out, If you're serious about playing a football management game, you get FM.

Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's going to compete, in fact nothing short of getting SI to make it, it's not anywhere near FM level.

You can polish (or sell cheap) a ****, but it's still a ****.

I didn't say that they would (or could) reach the level of FM; merely that at this price a lot of people (perhaps those who spend slightly less time with management sims) may go for it over FM, and that then by whacking it up next year they would hopefully gain a little market share.

I was just saying that this may very well be their reasoning behind it, not that it would be a success.

:D

After playing the demo i can confirm that 1p is too expensive.

It seems likes it's a game aimed at young children. Very cheap and tacky and is waaaaaaay behind Football Manager. Avoid this.
