i got a bit knocked off but i did get the wheels included. pick up saturday

lets see what happens

turbos are the originals (LOL) but this car has not been on the 20k service intervals so i think they might last.

as for £4k and explosions. yup, im thinking the same too!

S4 I assume?

I'd be very very cautious of one for £4000.

An expensive explosion is imminent :p

yup, its an s4 and its already been remapped. it has a good service history etc and came from a very nice chap etc so im quietly confident. i think the golf will be sorned and then stored in a lock up for "rainy days"

TBH the main reason for it to go bang in your face is the turbos, when i was looking at these i fully intended to spend a few hours taking the turbo air intake pipes off and feeling the turbine shafts.

Provided its been on the 10k service schedule and the owners have given it some respect you should be ok.

Should be good fun cross country with 320bhp and proper 4wd.

Oh and welcome to the world of stupid front suspension!

Very tasty. A friend of mine got one of these recently. Was very impressed with it. Got to agree with some other comments though. £4K? Cheap... like the budgie...

awesome, you finally got one :D

fingers crossed nothing does blow up, but then it's 'only' £4k :p
i'd swap the alloys asap and sell the old ones

its on 114k miles so its a baby really. as for the wheels, the 18s are going up for sale straight away... ie i might actually get new tyres on the 17s on my way home!

its the bad servicing that make these "volatile". shame really as theyre lovely cars

So basically as long as you spend money looking after them, you won't hvae to spend money because it suddenly went bang?

just normal servicing really.

im going to replace the boost hoses with a silicon set as theyre pretty much a consumable at this age

firestar... its had a few of the arms replaced but id be tempted to get one of those nice kits. i dont think id poly it tbh

i do want to uprate and lower the suspension though. the rear dampers did feel a bit floaty

Two words for you, Pinch Bolts..

I ended up taking my front hubs off because the pinch bolts had welded themselves to the hubs, total pig of a job but makes the world of difference once done they kit i used is second to non.

Only issue is if you replace the TRE's you have to get an alignement done, no issues you might think, well its not quite that easy due to the possitive and negative toe S curve these things have.

Very nice Matt, I love owning an estate (well touring) now, it's so handy and the visibility seems a lot better.

Ooh, looks nice. I know of two brothers that have one each. One has the saloon in Nogaro blue and the other has the avant in yellow (the yellow one sounds knackered though).

I like them, and prefer the avant over the saloon any day.

the "performance" audis have always been estate so i dont think i could have had anything less. i dont even need an estate, i just liked them more than the saloons.

at least i can take diesel weasel (the doberman) out now in some comfort

firestarter, whats worth getting suspension wise? i cant wait to tackle the pinchbolts

my northwich gf has moved in with me down south. when were back up north youve got to come out and seeit

Very nice, but at that price i'd always be holding my breath waiting for the turbo's to self destruct.

Looks OK for 4k, check it has the revised oil feeds as that helps oil supply to the turbo's a great deal.

Also consider a trip to MRC to have it checked out, they are the best 2.7TT specialist in the UK in my opinion. They offer a full diagnostic health check for around £60.

They'll give you a very good idea of it's health and what it needs doing to it.
