As the season comes to a close, who is your Clubs Player of the Year and why?

player for team

For me,

Gareth Bale for Spurs.

Bale didn't have a good start at Spurs, and the beginning of last season, like so many other supporters, I wanted him sold in the next transfer window. I remember I made the trip to Stoke were he was sent off late after giving away a penalty and remembering how awful he was.

What a difference a year makes. Bale is by far the best player this season at Spurs, despite coming in late as a regular starting player, his left sided runs and accurate crossing have outpaced many denders and have been a key part of Spurs form recently, despite all of the clubs injury problems. God knows what might have been if Lennon had been playing on the right too. I'm glad he has made the left side his own switching back the LB if need be. What I like about him, is his ability to take on players, outpacing them and forcing defenders to back peddle.. His skills remind me of Chris Waddle but with more energy. I'd like to see him score more but i'm sure that will come.

Nice one Gareth

Tough one for me, obvious choice would be Kevin Doyle, but I will go for:

Marcus Hahnemann for Wolves. Appears to have instilled some confidence in the back line, and our defence has improved greatly as a result. Helps that he is a reasonably talented goalkeeper too. We wouldn't be in the lofty (14th!) position we are in now if it weren't for him (and a few others, but I could only choose one!)

Without doubt it has to be Rooney, head and shoulders above the rest of the team and he has shown that he has matured immenselly too.

I'd disagree with Bale. Lennon's performances were better than Bale's. Both full of running but the final ball from Lennon was far better. He destroyed teams on his own.

Not taking anything away from Bale though. He dominates games in a way that left backs shouldn't be able to do. :)

I don't know who I'd name as Spurs' player of the season. We've usually had one or two outstanding players and a lot of dross at the club. It's almost felt like we've been fielding a ringer. But now we have a team of players all playing at a very good level. It's hard to pick out one individual.

I'd probably go for Lennon if he hadn't been injured for half the season. So my choice would be Dawson. He wins everything in the air, always gives everything and our defensive record this season speaks for itself.

He's not been playing LB ;)
Lennon was already an accomplished player before the start of this season. We Know what he is capable of and what he has done. However, he does drift in and out at times and the team has suffered when he's not been at his best. His crossing has always been a topic of debate albeit this has improved this season. Bale on the other hand has come back into the side a very different player to when we last say him as a regular. With so many injury's, he has frustrated defenders, created chances and can actually cross a ball. He is pretty consistant too. Our chance of a top 5 finish let alone a top 4 would have ended months ago otherwise. It's his improvement, consistancy and domination that has impressed me the most.

We also have to remember that Lennon been out since December and is unlikely to return for the rest of this campaign. Better times for him next season - one hopes :)

ot - Lennon took another set-back this week :( /ot

My Team: Man Utd

My Player of the Season: Wayne Rooney

Need I say anything? :p

Other than Rooney though special mentions have to go to both Evra who's appeared in every single league game this season and has been brilliant in almost everyone of our games (it's only actually been since Rio and Vidic have got themselves back in the team that his performances have dipped slightly). Also Valencia, started off slowly but has grown into the season and we are now seeing loads of confidence in his performances, he's slightly gone off of the goal trail recently but considering he was getting 1 or 2 a season at Wigan getting 7 (I think) in all comps has to be considered a good return.

Rangers - Steve Davis, David Wier(how does he still do it at his age) and Danny Wilson - Boyd for his goals i suppose!

Arsenal
Cesc Fabregas

Robin van Persie and Cesc were amazing until Robin (as usual) suffered a long term injury, after that Cesc led by example and we would be in a lot worse a position if he wasn't our captain. Moment of the season when he came on as a sub against Villa, bagged a brace and went off injured again yet still did enough to (rightly) be awarded man of the match.

With a few exceptions he is wasted due to the lack of talent around him. He deserves to be playing with other world class players. Still don't think he will be going to Barca just yet though (pretty hard to dislodge Messi/Xavi/Inesta)

tough one between bale and gomes. bale has consistently been man of the match and his attitude is tremendous but gomes has gained us a lot of points and last night was no exception. also, gomes had an extremely tough time but has turned the fans and his game around. i wouldn't have anyone else in goal.

Totally agree with this.

Easy. Scott Parker (for the second consecutive season).

Picks up a lot of yellows but without his tenacity in midfield WH would be in a lot more trouble.

Team: Utd

Player: Patrice Evra

Honourable mentions: Wazza and the brilliant Valencia (I was actually going to put Valencia as the POTY because he has been such a revelation this season, but then I thought of PE's immense efforts all season...)

Team: Spurs

Player: Gareth Bale

Has brought an attacking threat back into the team while Lennon is out. Outstanding performances and a much improved defensive ability mean he's definitely our most improved player this year.

Honourable mentions to Gomes and Dawson.

Team: Middlesbrough

Difficult really. If I could do it over a half a season then Adam Johnson for the first half and then either Robson or McManus for the second. Over the course of a full season though.... Probably O'Neill, but to be honest there have been very few stand out performers.
