am i the only one who didnt know about the compatibility issue between the amd sb850 southbridge and a bunch of samsung f3 hardrives?
having recently built a computer and having issues getting the hardrive to be detected by the bios i just put it down to a faulty sata cable.
after almost a week click-click-clunk, oh what it doesnt want to work anymore?
i reinstall windows on my old hdd and decide to see if i can make windows disk management detect the drive surprise surprise its detected and a quick reboot and im using the click-click-clunk drive without issue backup all the data and carry on gaming etc, turn the computer off and in the morning click-click-clunk.
a quick google search shows an issue between the SB850 and a bunch of samsung hardrives.
samsung have released a fix which is a downgraded firmware for the hdd http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/faqView.do?b2b_bbs_msg_id=308
now how come non of the websites i looked at when researching my purchase which i did research for a whole day didnt mention any issues?
did anyone else know about this? seeing as how popular the f3 series of drives are you would have thought the amount of RMA requests would be pretty huge, why do places like ocuk not put notes on either the motherboards featuring the SB850 southbridge or on the samsung f3 hardrive pages!
