I'm very tempted to pick on of these up now for my laptop, anyone bit the bullet yet and got one? Would you recommend it?

If anyone has bought this how much formatted space do you end up with?

Not seen any firmware updates over at Corsair's forum.

If you mean what Windows gives as the capacity then it's 112 GB.

I haven't had time to test it yet, having some trouble cloning my current OS HD to the new one!

Once you get it all sorted I'd be interesting in knowing how many seconds it takes to get to Windows desktop.

And if you have any issues with SSD not being seen by BIOS when turn on pc, or reboot.

Thanks.

Haven't been able to get it running yet, might just end up doing a fresh install but the CD is at home not my Uni accommodation. It'll be another week before I get anywhere with it but I'll sure get some benchmarks before and after :)

P.S - Not happy that they reduced the price further less than a week after I bought one too. Might of picked up a Vertex instead if I'd waited as they've been reduced too

what board u got phillydee? i see a lot of pople having problems with these drives disappearing from bios after a few restarts, hoprfully i wont experience these problems.(mine should be here today)

I finally got round to running some benchmarks on this! I used CrystalDiskMark 64-bit on Windows 7 Home. Also I had no problems with it not being detected by my BIOS, everything has been sweet there :)

Old HD is a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 320 GB -

As you can see (and obviously expect) there's a huge difference! I'm really impressed, I wasn't expecting such a change in boot-up speed either. Although they aren't accurate because I didn't time them on anything, I just counted in my head.

On the old Seagate boot up time was 45 seconds to log in screen, then probably another 10-15 seconds for everything to load up after logging in.

The Corsair boot time, 12 seconds! :) Then after logging in it was almost instant having all start up programs running.

In conclusion if you can afford to get an SSD, then I would easily recommend the Corsair too, it has really helped unleash more power on my laptop!

Nice feedback.

I'd like one for my laptop, but for current prices I'd prefer it in desktop system that gets more use. Going to hold off and see if the OcUK predictions of price and capacity at the end of year come to fruition.

i would stay clear especially if you have x58 chipset!! all you need to do is go to the corsair support forums and have a look at the ammount of people with the same problem which also includes me!

basicaly hard drive was fine for the first few days but after that when i restarted my pc it would disapear from the bios taking a further 10 restarts to get it back and then sometimes it would work with out a problem but the same problem would come back.. my only other problem is, i have requested an RMA from OCUK but it could well be that the drive will work the first few times they try it and then send me it back! you guys need to take a look at the corsair support forums. only making this post to bring the problem to your attention if you dont allready know about it.

heres some threads over at the corsair support forum which have the exact same problem, and trust me theres a lot more threads about the same problem! i would stay clear of this drive.

Yeah corsair forums are a tale of woe on this drive and definately has got to be sorted out soon. I am thankfully making my main upgrade next year (cpu, mobo, ram and storage) hoping by then prices will be that bit lower and reliability a lot better.
