Why do people act like this?

I hate going to the cinema. It took a great act of kindness for me to agree to take my 10 year old brother to see Karate Kid. When we were sitting in the cinema, a really loud group of about 5 or 6 came in. They were making loads of noise, and using a lot of foul language. I went to the toilet, and when I came back my brother said that he'd been hit in the head with a penny.

In the film they kept making loud noises, and using abusive language. People were turning their heads so I knew they were getting annoyed. I decided to take matters into my own and I told them to shut up. bold move, as I am a pussy :p

Then they started to threaten me, and said stuff like "who said it? was it that ****?" A couple looked the same age as me, the rest looked a little younger. But most bigger. Curse my petite physique :o

They didn't make much noise after that. Still more than everyone else put together, but nowhere near as bad as before. I walked out of the film and they were waiting for me outside. They told me to bow down to them and to get on my knees. "NO! I'm not gonna beg!" I said. Then they pushed me into the wall and started punching me, WTF . I wasn't that scared, I knew they wouldn't hit me that hard as it was a public place. But then I looked over and my brother was crying :(

Then I just pushed my past, and grabbed him. At this point the other members of public got involved and the group left.

I'm really sorry, I know that much worse happens, and I'm trying to explain this to my brother. Just needed to vent

Next time I'll keep my mouth shut, now I understand why people don't say anything

Yeah, no of course, no point losing your life over that right? Who knows they could've been carrying weapons or had it in mind to kill you.

To be honest, they wouldn't have killed me. It was in a public place, there were people around, it would be stupid of them to do anything like that. I think that's why I wasn't afraid, there wasn't really much they could have done.

I had the same when a group was being obnoxious in the cinema was only 3 of them though, and I was with 3 of my mates, I told them to shut up also, but they decided to get louder at that point, until I threw a cup and it smacked 1 of them in the face.

They didn't realise who threw it and I did see them waiting outside after the cinema, but were none the wiser it was me so i just walked past them after having a more quiet viewing in the cinema when they decided a cup in the face was enough to shut them up.

No respect and no common courtesy.

Fantastic bravado in a group but rabbits in a headlight when on their own.

My thoughts exactly. If it had been one of them on their own, they wouldn't even have made any noise. If it was two of them, they would have made noise but not done anything afterwards.

I hate the group mentality. That's why I hate being part of large groups in public.

Chavvs, what pack animals...sometimes OP its best to keep out of it unless you know you got support...very bold move I must say....if every body in that room formed up against them I m guessing they wouldn't stand a chance... they are chavvs its in the name, since what happened when you knocked your way to help your brother and every body else started to gang up on them.

oh how I would just love to just rid them off this world.

give me a AK47 and I ll do it...no wait what a waste of ammo, okay than batter em to death....

I m sorry i have a really harsh nature

Moronic scum with no upbringing, probably no decent family life and no future.

That's the thing. I suppose the assumption is that they do not come from the best of backgrounds, but then how can they spend £4 to watch a film, shout and throw stuff at people the whole way through it, and then abuse an Indian guy afterwards who "got rude" to them.
