Why does steam always say play with friends?

Why is it when steam as some update news , they say play with friends and never play with you're family/children?, its really wierd to me as i dont class someone online as a friend?

Ok, so excusing the fact that you're clearly devoid of a sandwich or two from your picnic, are you saying you have no real life friends with whom you play games over the internet?

As for the actual topic, I can't decide if you're being serious or not. Family can be also classed as friends, and on top of that, who's to say a lot of people don't have their actual friends they know in person added to their "friends" list? :confused:

I dont but i play online with my son and when it came to adding him as a friend it was abit strange as he is more than a friend,i would like an option to add family or friend,both are totally different things.
