Modern Warfare 2 Dead?

Infinity Ward say they are working on fixing all the hack crap:

but to be honest i've never seen a game so flipped upside down in my life. Every server I've tried to go in theres some weird crap going on where some guy is instantly killing everyone as soon as they spawn lol, so hes got like 100+ kills in a minute or two, and soon as you spawn you just die it's weird. The games in complete ruin, I was on it for about half hour and couldn't find one server where this carry on wasn't happening.

I highly doubt they will do anything now. Nobody is buying that game any more so IW couldn't care less. I will be VERY surprised if they do even do anything.

They're probably just saying it as they slagged Sony who then brought out a firmware update.

Well it's pretty unplayable for me? And maybe it is infinity ward doing this so everyone just goes to black ops or something. If they don't fix it then they are just another EA.

It's not dead but it's completely ruined now. About 2 in 3 matches have at least one person who's actively impacting the game with hacks or cheats and the game isn't enjoyable anymore. You can't log online and chill out with a few matches and work towards the next level anymore. I've been exposed to gun hacks, low gravity hacks, I've had my name changed and my experience gain decreased or increased massively - and my cousin's even had his character's level reset to 1.

The game's got players but for all intents and purposes it's dead. If anyone thinks this is an exaggeration they clearly haven't been online recently. This is hands-down the worst state any PC or console game have been. I'm quite awestruck by the amount of people with access to these hacks; it's a minor but significant number of the playerbase...

Feel sorry for you PS3 users. MW2 on 360 is as good as it was before Black Ops came out and is a night freshen up for when Black ops gets a bit stale.

Shouldv'e bought a 360. *smirk*

It's weird because about a week ago I was really enjoying it never came across the hacks it's the game I play quite a bit now I can't relly play it anymore... I've no idea how all this carry on has managed to happen right under infinity wards noses. Hope they do sort it but im starting to think R.I.P. as well, due to the fact black ops is out etc.

Personally think it's pathetic it's been over-run by hackers. Whats the xbox like? I've got a 360 as well but don't really play it, but if thats not got the problem then i'll just buy it for 360 and start again on that.

Ideal then, yeah ps3 costs a ton more but the security and what not is absolutely pathetic. Expectations have plummited. Whats to stop hackers spreading over doing it to other games, heard it's already started in killzone 2 etc. Looks like i'll be moving to 360.

I earn bugger all and bought myself a HDTV, 360 and PS3, just spread it out over a couple of months, if you can't afford £130 (xbox price) over a couple of months how poor are you?

Though I own a PS3 I've never played online with it. I've never had issues with hackers on XBL but I didn't play MW2 for long. BFBC2 though seems clean which is what I mostly play.

Real shame for PSN players though if this is the norm. I played PC games for 15 years online so I've seen my fair share of this kind of thing. Just leaves you feeling frustrated and angry.

The people who hack to increase their online level and k/d ratio must be pretty pathetic people. I haven't played mw2 or black ops for a couple of months so don't know how much worse it has got.

It's a little bit of IW but it's Sony fault by a massive margin. The security lapse in the PS3 is what opened the floodgates. There were the occasional hacks here and there which IW could individually but slowly stamp out, now it's totally out of control.

Note that the 360 version suffers from hacks as well, but it's extremely rare - maybe 1 in 10 matches?

Cheats and hacks for a ton of other PS3 games are appearing as a result of the Sony security lapse as well - expect games like BC2 and Killzone 2 (and unfortunately 3

) to suffer as well. The PS3 is a doomed platform for online play now.

It's not just that, it's play and charge kits for the controllers, or at least rechargeable batteries and a charger, subscription to Xbox Live, possibly a bigger hard drive, or if £130 is for the 4GB one DEFINITELY a bigger hard drive and then games on top of that.

i remember stuff like that happening in the old delta force games, spawn in and somebody instantly teleports behind you and knifes you and people jumping 20,000 feet in the air 10000 times a second so you can't hit them, sniper rifles with the sights up in the air so you can shoot from the clouds, infinite ammo and no reload and rapid fire on grenade launchers shooting from the sky lol, completely ruined the game.

people just cheat because they think it's fun, just sucks for the rest of us who want to play properly and i hope they can fix it

My son plays this when I tried to have ago with my account it had been compromised and is noe level 70 with all unlocks, If is 7 years old so I doubt he did this on purpose how do I get my true setting back or can't i?

mate from work has been keeping a little tally of how many hacked games he enters, compared to unhacked ones, so far i think his tally stands at something like 31 hacked and 4 unhacked, thats shocking right their...! that means like 80% of MWII games on the PS3 are hacked, guess its time to sell the PS-fail and come to the dark side!
