As beer is supposedly the 3rd most popular drink after water and tea worldwide (source), I figured it'd be good to have a thread entirely dedicated to its consumption.

As a general definition, we will include under the heading of beer all lagers, stouts, pale ales, ales, wheat beers, fruit beers etc but not cider. Obviously...

So tell us about any recent beers your tried, and you've made yourself, what your favourite beer is, when and where do you enjoy drinking it most.

My personal favourite is Peroni. Nothing like an ice cold pint of Peroni on an afternoon after a hard days work.

Ahhh a desperado is good! First desperado I ever had was on my first ever rugby social at uni. We had all been to an all you can eat chinese before we headed of to this other pub. I headed to the cash point with this two 3rd year rugby lads, we got to the pub and everyone had already done their first pint. Cue rugby social sec saying we all have to neck our first pints. Being bloated from all the chinese, we neck our pints but I start feeling funny. Run to the loo's, throw up on route, throw up some more in there and then head back to the rest of the guys, cue round out applause and laughter with one of the guys handing me a desperado. The lime really helped get rid of the sick taste. Great night!

Lager:

Budvar. It just has something other lagers don't.
Chang when at the local Thai restaurant.
Corona + lime for some easy BBQ drinkin'.

Ale:
Pretty much anything from the Triple fff brewery, especially as it's just down the road! Alton's Pride won the GBBF gold medal a couple of years ago and is delicious.

Fursty Ferret - great summer ale and readily available, as are most Badger ales. First Gold is another favourite.

Tried a great many at the Winchester beer festival a couple of weeks ago and can highly recommend Bradfield's 'Farmer's Brown Cow', Rooster's 'Leghorn', and another new Triple fff ale called 'Rock Lobster'. All very good.

Lager:

Staropramen
Hoegarden (with a slice of lemon)
Peroni

^all awesome on a sunny day:D

Ale:

Probably Discovery, or something from Adnams (explorer), Honeydew or anything local and in a nice bottle when I go back home, e.g. wickwar, bath ales

Ahhh honeydew is pretty good! I love a pint of that. First had that in Covent Garden at le pain quotidien. Not a bad place for lunch either, one in Tottenham Court Road too.

Indeed:) Although my sister laughed at me and said it's a girls drink..?! Either way, it's pretty tasty and a good one to get people who don't normally like ales as its smooth and sweet:D

Naaaaah its not a girls drink. No beer is a girls drink (except, in my opinion corona). Honeydew is a summer beer. It's refreshing.

Hobgoblin is pretty good. In Canterbury there's a few pubs named after some of these beers.

Ooh hard to say since there are so many I love. If I HAD to choose one, I would say something like San Miguel since I've rarely had a bad one on draft and it's good in bottles.

In spite of my intense love for Westmalle, Orval, Duvel, Kwak and a massive host of foreign beers, something like San Miguel is pretty much great for all occasions. Sometimes you don't want a really strong, demanding beer, you just want to drink pints - and lots of them quickly.
