My 3 year old took a dislike to one of my speakers this morning, the little cherub that he is....

What a pain, this is why grills are needed when little ones are around... :(

If it's any consolation, at least the tweeter is ok, and the sound shouldn't really be affected in this case... :)

I know the feeling...one of my kids done the same when they were little,luckily there there to protect from dust....solution....hope you have a very powerful hoover to put the nozzle over,may still have slight creases in but should pull them out at least

I've just had a go of sucking out the domes using an empty mini eggs tube. They look a lot better but I'm never going to get them perfect as the domes are very stiff and have creases in them. The tweeter seems to have survived as it's a very soft rubber so it just pops back out. At least none of them have ripped, I think their main purpose is to keep dust out of the drivers?

No idea why he did it, he's never even taken the covers off before in the 9 months I've had them. I've now stuck blu-tac in the sockets so the covers are harder to get off...

Use a hoover mate with just the pipe attachment worked for me when me kid did it to me PC speakers.

I think they are well beyond saving with the hoover fix mate looking at the pic, as already posted they should still sound ok being as the tweeter is undamaged just put the grill back on to hide the cones and try to forget that they were ever damaged.

I've managed to get the lower driver cone looking almost like new, the top is a lot better but creases are visible.

I've given the speakers a real workout this afternoon and as far as I can tell there's no obvious effect on the sound. So I've stuck the covers on and as Tony says try to forget it ever happened.

You did a good job with those, after seeing the top cone in picture in the OP I thought you had no chance of getting it to look like a cone again.

Yep, they're dust caps;

I've got quite a few speakers with pushed in dust caps, and while they don't look quite so nice they still work fine, even if they now don't look quite so pretty... :)

They do look a lot better now you've pulled the cones out now. :) The important thing is to not make a hold in them while trying to fix them...

That second pic looks 100 times better than the first.

I can remember doing this to a set of speakers years ago... I think I thought they would just pop out again, like one of those toys that catapult themselves into the air.

They didn't :embarrased:

I'm happy with the results from a couple of minutes work, I'm wary of over doing it and causing some real damage so I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.
