I went down to OcUK Friday and managed to collect everything I needed. Here are the pics. I am building it today. I've missed the Dell U2711 from the photoset because the camera didn't save the image properly and couldn't be bothered to re-take. But I have 3 of them.

I am using air cooling at the moment to see how it runs. If temps go too high I will consider water cooling, the only reason I didn't use water is because if anything was to go wrong at some point in the future it could be a waste of money. We have air con. in the room the computer will be in, it's always likea fridge in the room.

Basket total was near £5,500.

Btw. I won't be overclocking the CPU at this stage.

It is clear what most of your parts are..

Regardless of how chilly your room is I believe it was a mistake for you to buy a Venom when you could have gone for a Thermalright SilverArrow.

Anyways, post up the spec and maybe take some group shots.

How are you planning on installing the soundcard?

With 3 GTX 580's installed will there be any slots left?

yep, theres 4. There is even a gap between the 3rd and 4th I assume this is for air flow to stop the soundcard blocking the fans.

The monitors ramped up the price. Those alone are over £2,000 but I needed something high quality because I'm a designer and video editor.

If you install 3 double slot graphics cards each one occupies a slot and blocks the one next to it.

You end up with something like this and no slots free:

wWhat version sound card did you get?

As the box only has D2 and not D2X.

That's the PCI version, the board doesn't any PCI slots on it. With the 3-way SLI going on there's only 1xPCI-E slot available, but any card will clash with the chipset heatsink behind the slot.

Edit: Actually looking at the board photo, there might be a slot in the heatsink to allow full length cards over the top of the chipset.

Looking at the board in the link below both PCI-E slots will be blocked by the GPU'S as each gpu takes up 2 slots.

I'm not trying to be awkward but:

a) You've bought a PCI soundcard and a motherboard that doesn't have any PCI slots

b) Yes it's made for 3 way SLI and 3 way SLI uses or blocks all the slots on the motherboard

c) You don't even have room for a PCI-E soundcard even if you bought one

Yeah with the 3 cards installed you've only got a single 1x PCI-E slot that's partially blocked by the chipset heatsink.

Edit: In fact that's not even a PCI-E slot

thats the ROG maximus 4 extreme, not the standard, which it looks like he has (either that, or im going blind)

if he has the standard one, he should be able to fit a PCIe sound card in the top slot:

on closer inspection, this board also says RoG on one of the heatsinks, yet there is a PCIe slot on it where the power slot is on that other board.
