well received my xl today, all packaging was standard, not best but good. but when i took the case out to my surprise all of the plastic clips that keep the front panel in place had snapped off!! no worry's though i went up b&q and bought some superglue for plastics and its fine now but the point is is that its not nice opening your new case to find the front panel hanging off :D

I hope fractal get their act together and sort out some better packaging amongst other things. :/
I'm feeling pretty lucky to have got one in fine condition.

i know right. it was ok... the box was in a box but instead of big meaty polystyrene blocks protecting the case itself it was cardboard with a bit of poxy poly on it....

dosent sound like the box being of poor quality but of the fractal case being of poor quality.

i nearly purchased one of these last year, glad i didn't now because ive seen so many complain about there quality.

the quality isn't that bad, fair enough there is a fair few bits of plastic that can easily snap off but i like the case, just a few setbacks

Its only people on here that ive ever seen have problems with fractal cases...

I assume you all order them from Overclockers?

Might have found the problem?

I've had a Define from elsewhere for a mate, and it was bloody shocking build quality and packing was crap too. I'm back to Lian Li again personally!

dwor, ocuk dont package them if thats what your trying to get at? they get them as is and sell them on?

They handle them and store them is what i mean. Ive never ordered anything from Overclockers but i just assumed you all buy from here.

I bought mine off a competitor and i know a few people who have and never had any problems. I love my R3 - never let me down.

I doubt it is OCUK's fault - I've ordered a fair amount of stuff from them, and the worst damage I've ever seen was a couple of bent corners on a HSF. Besides, if they were treating the stuff roughly, I doubt it would just be the fractals coming damaged.

I got a Fractal Define R3. Came in very sturdy packaging and lots of styrofoam. No problems there eventhough it came from Sweden.

I would have returned the case, I did that when my Corsair 800D had the paint coming away from the side panel few years ago.

i dont understand why the OP kept it... its a brand new case, arrived damaged, and you had to GLUE it back together! if there ever is a case for return!

Seems strange that the OP states the Fractal XL was broken - yet he glued the bits back on and kept it, resale value just went out the window right there my friend.

Have you ever had a highish end Lian Li, Corsair or Silverstone to compare it to though?

A lot of people used to say the same about Thermaltake until they had actually used something better.

I've had my share of disappointment with Fractal Design too...which resulted in me having to return a few XL cases back to where I purchased them from.

The cases I received had various broken parts and several scratches, and one of the cases was so warped (internally) that it was impossible to install the mobo etc.

Needless to say I gave up after that and just asked for my money back.

The packaging / boxes they arrived in were all sealed with no signs of damage at all btw, and this was from the UK's main distributor of FD cases (not OcUK).

Shocking QC to say the least, but I did get an apology from the MD of Fractal and a generous offer of a new case...but sadly I'm still waiting.
