Im planning on using my ssd for os and cache for intel RST.
Ive installed windows 7 on a WD 160gb hd and installed intel RST which put a 18gb partition on the ssd. I then disconnected the wd and tried to install Win 7 on remaining ssd partition however windows asks for storage drivers?
Does anyone know what storage drivers i need?

OK managed to do it. i needed to put irst drivers on usb.
here is some screen shots and atto benchmark. The hhd is a wd1600avvs-63l2b0 that i got out of a old v-box.

Whats the point in having the same SSD for the OS and the Intel cache? Doesn't that make it pointless?

No as Intel RST was designed for people who had small ssd. The OS was ment to be installed on a mechanical drive using the cache of the ssd.

Thus by installing the OS on the ssd you have the best of both drives.

Yeah I understand Intel RST, even if the small SSDs aren't that quick. The puzzling bit was having the OS and cache on the same SSD? If you've got the OS on there already, it seems pointless having RST as well.

Not really. I have all of my key applications and my OS on the SSD. I then have my mechanical storage drive which has games and media on it, which is boosted by a small part of the SSD.

So I have ultra fast OS and regular apps, and faster than normal games. Best of both worlds.

Ah I see, yeah that makes sense now. I have the same set up but don't have the option of RST. I was thinking the OP only had one SSD and no mechanical drive, which is why I was confused.
