This monitor was used at the recent Nvidia Geforce LAN6 event -
- really stupid question - but am I right in saying that because this 27inch runs at the same res as a 23inch (1980x1020) it won't take any more GFX card power to run even though it is bigger?

The updated 3D Vision is supposed to be twice as bright, the new glasses are also designed not to dig into the side of your head as much. I may sell my 23" Asus for this if it performs as well as it.
Short indeed. A bit too short - it's a review of Nvidia 3D Vision 2 rather than the monitor. But they clearly enjoyed the experience so that's a big plus.
$700, so I'm assuming that means 500 quid, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's more like 600.
Every "review" I've seen so far has been nothing more than a fluff piece
I have used a number of 27" 1920 x 1080 monitors alongside smaller models with tighter pixel pitches. You shouldn't have any problem regarding the sharpness and it is certainly a lot better in this regard than a scaled 1080p image from a 27" monitor with 2560 x 1440 native resolution. Bad Company 2 and the Battlefield 3 beta looks nice and sharp even if you are sitting stupidly close to the monitor (30cm or so, but I wouldn't recommend this) and the experience is certainly very immersive which is the main advantage. The matte screen surface can take a slight edge off the sharpness compared to a glossy solution but you would never describe it as blurred.
It is also worth considering that aside from making the experience more 'immersive' everything will appear larger on the game. This makes enemies and such like easier to spot in the distance but also amplifies the effects of aliased lines - meaning that high levels of anti-aliasing may be preferred. Really this effect is quite slight though and when it gets to that stage Battlefield 3 should work fine without MSAA enabled (as long as the post-filtering is enabled perhaps to high or medium).
I personally think Asus will need to hike down their RRP if they want to sell a lot of these given the current economical climate (cliched I know).
Also, didnt Hazro say in the other thread a week ago or so that they too are working on a 27" 1080p TN 3D monitor? Competing companies can only be a good thing...
Anyone know if this is going to be better than the Samsung 950D? I would think Samsung would be best considering they make a crazy amount of TV's / Monitors.
