Yesterday i set up Windows 7 on my new 64gb Crucial M4 ssd. It was my first time using an ssd so I've probably done something wrong along the way :p

The drive is connected to a SATA 2 port on my MSI P55-GD65 board.

Windows was installed with AHCI mode set in bios. Superfetch, prefetch and drive indexing have all been disabled as advised. Ive never used AHCI mode before. Was I supposed to install a driver during the installation using F6? because I didn't. Once Windows was installed I tried installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology but when I did that my D drive, an Samsung 320gb F1 would not appear and was showing as almost 600gb in Disk Management but wouldn't let me us the drive, kept coming up with errors. So I'm not using the Intel RST.

Was wondering if the results below seem about right for the ssd considering its connected using SATA 2 rather than 6gb/s

Seems about right. Jugding from the write speed it's already on the 0009 firmwire, so it's already performing at it's best on a SATA 3Gbps port.

I would test it with this though as it produces a better picture on how your drive performs.

OK just ran ATTO, the results are:

Seem about right?

Are the access times a little high on the AS SSD test? Is that just due to it being on a SATA 3Gb/s port? Looking on the SSD Test thread the M4 scores 0.057ms but on a SATA 6Gb/s port
