I've got the sun cream ready! Not been before, but having seen Rojins photos a few weeks ago I am keen see what I can produce

It's been a while since I did any motor racing photos though so need to check out my panning skills!
This morning was only practice runs, so not quite the balls to the wall runs that you get for the competition runs. It can be a pain when panning as the slower speeds mean a much slower shutter speed if you're a blur freak like me

I prefer the Ettores infield for getting shots as you get 3 bites at the apple (they pass from your right, then the left, then the right again as they go up the hill, and there are different angles for each pass). Make sure you have a wander around though, I never spend enough time in the paddock area or the other stuff. Tomorrow I'll only have the X100 with me... I'm determined to get some panning shots though!
A great day out as I enjoyed the subject matter, later on the Bugatti spun off the track on the first corner btw, it didn't hit anything, tbh I saw quite a few near misses and I'm surprised there isn't allot more crashes etc.
I was however a bit envious of the 'press' tog's, as they had free reign to find nice angles without a barrier in the way. Might try my luck and show someone at Prescott some of my pictures and see if I can get an orange high vis...
It was also mostly a different way of shooting for the most part. I have never panned anything in my life before today, I even used Liveview in order to lean over the barrier and get a lower or higher camera angle in a few places, and I found I was either shooting at F1.4 if the car was coming strait at me or F16 with a slower shutter if the car was going past.
Edit:
Also, I learnt to use continuous burst sparingly, I now have stacks of images to sort through...
Spinning a £1m car that you don't own, that's got to cause quite a rise in heart rate!

There were some crashes last year, but generally they're pretty mild affairs.
They do run a photography competition at the end of the season, I didn't place anywhere in that but I did get asked to submit work for their "Presoctt Perspectives" exhibition they held at a gallery in Cheltenham. I've never asked about getting trackside, I usually take my daughter with me so not really an option!
I always go for panning shots even if they are coming straight at me, I just have to have some motion in the shot. High shutter speed shots don't do it for me, even when the car is leant over sparks flying etc. There is the odd shot I see that I like, but I like to hang it out there and get some blur. even if it means the whole frame is blurred rather to often than I'd like!
If post any pictures up, do you mind if I add them to this thread or would you prefer I create my own?
