I've put on about a stone (6.3kg) at the gym over the last few months and now it's time to lose the fat. I'm 5ft 7 and 81kg and currently eating around 2500 calories a day.

I need some advice on diet, like how many calories I should cut down to and the sorts of things to eat ?

You attribute putting on 6.3kg of weight from going to the gym? lol?

I think it's pretty obvious the OP didn't say he had put on a stone of muscle and is well aware it's fat as well, hence the post title!

MW posting up what you eat specifically will really help, but the real basics would be to get in to a calorie deficit and stick to what your doing

Your protein, is it with water or milk... How many carbs in the protein. That will help 'Cut' more than you think.

Could ask you the same thing as its your thread :D

After I posted this thread I changed my diet a little as I needed to eat more but healthier foods and this worked to a small extent but it also gave me more energy for my workouts.

As of last Friday I was on a 9 day holiday (use it or lose it thing) so I decided to hit my body fat hard.

I'm currently eating 1200 calories a day spread out over 6 meals made up of lean meats (egg whites, white fish, steak and chicken breast) plus a little fruit and veg. I also continue to take my vitamin/mineral and omega supplements.

I've also tried to keep my metabolism high, along with the 6 meals a day I've been drinking 0.5L of cold water per meal (cold water is apparently better than warm), green tea and caffeine (4L total fluids per day). I've tried to keep my self active around the house too with some push ups, sit ups, stretching, calf raises and some weights for some light works outs.

So far the fat seems to be falling off me, I weighed my self when I started and will weigh my self again on Monday morning. The first 2 days I could really feel in my head my bodies cravings for carbs but on the 3rd day they were gone. The strange thing is i'm not feeling tired, I seem to have more energy which I'm guessing is down to a combination of the caffeine, the lack of carb crashes and the continuous supply of food. Will keep you posted...

Its not all about how much you weigh. How do you look? better/worse?

To me weight is just a number but it gives me an idea what I'm doing right or wrong.

The main area for body fat for me is my lower stomach the top half of my abs are visible but the lower half is cover in fat and this is what I'm trying to remove.

This is broscience but if it works for you then might as well keep it up but don't obsess over it as it makes no difference

one thing with this is while the reason behind it may be ******** i think it does help purely because you feel a bit more full all the time so there's less temptation to "cheat".

^that's certainly valid, provided the meals are good. I'm sure you've seen many small meals of crap lead to even more meals of crap.

The same effect can be achieved by eating good meals irrespective of frequency, or not being ruled by your hunger...

1500 calories has been good for me to shift weight for getting lean without inhibiting muscle. I'm 5'10" and was 72kg and am now 68kg. Just trying to get the 6 pack fully formed. I have been doing regular cardio exercises with some weights and resistance. I don't know how suited that exercise routine is for someone with more muscle mass but as I mentioned it didn't result in me losing muscle.
