I'm not sure how to set up over provisioning outside of Magician.....it's simply an unallocated partition on the SSD which you could create using computer management. Perhaps one of the gurus on here can advise if doing it that way would work
Why are you so reluctant to use Magician? It's simple to use and I guess you could uninstall after you have everything set to your liking.
The general advice I have seen is that there is no need to configure extra provisioning for home desktop PCs. Remember all SSDs already have factory built-in over-provisioning. The Magician software allows for configuring extra space (which is just unallocated space as said above) that probably is not required for the low concurrent usage of single user PCs.
The Over Provisioning menu provides options for resizing partitions on the disk. The SSD will perform better and last longer if it has free space available to use as swap space, and this utility will help you set aside such space by resizing the partitions on your drive. Swap space is used to perform routine SSD maintenance (TRIM and Garbage Collection) in the background during idle time, allowing the SSD Controller to prepare free blocks for the OS to use in the future. Because the SSD performs best when writing to free blocks, the result is a better user experience through reduced wait time. END
If you are not short of disk space then I can see no reason why provisioning shouldn't be set as reccommended by the manufacturer.
