Spec me a Washing Machine...

Our 19 year old Zanuzzi just died a horrible horrible death, so looking to buy a new one.

Requirements:
- Good Brand
- From John Lewis
- Longevity

It's been a while since we've bought a washing machine, so not really aware of the features etc. now available. Any recommendations/reviews would be great please

We just bought the Bosch Exxcel 8 from JL last week, it washes clothes just like the last Hotpoint one we had not really any better just isn't worn out.

Not a great deal to be said other than that, I'll report back in 10 years

Cheers for that. Didn't even think to search, as I didn't realise how common this question was.

Looking at the threads it looks like Bosch and LG are the popular ones... just need to decide with of the many models to go for.

Go for an LG, it has no belt, no carbon brushes and will be quieter.

LG F1480FD from John Lewis here - quiet, large capacity, 5 year warranty and 10 year guarantee on the direct drive. Or Miele if you can extend your budget much further - bombproof!

We have been really impressed with our Samsung Ecobubble.

Had it about 6 months and it just washes so much better than our previous admitadly old bosh.

Yes but it's £25 ish and £9 to take the old machine away

people don't connect their own washing machines ?
it takes about 2 minutes I don't see why anyone would pay to have one installed.

If for some reason you don't have the pipes etc there for a washing machine then a shop installer wont do it anyway because they are only their to connect your new one and they wont do any actual plumbing work

seriously if you can plug in a plug socket and connect a watering hose to a tap you can connect a washing machine

I am buying a new one within the next couple of weeks and was going for an LG, but read about the Samsung ones this morning. They look really good. I might have been swayed, especially with the 5 year warranty.
