Has anyone here tried Metal Gear Solid on the PC and if so, did it work all right?

I cant speak for MGS 1 (im guessing you mean Metal Gear Solid the old PS1 game and not the original Metal Gear for the Snes was it?) but I have MGS 2 Sons of Liberty and that works fine on Vista after a minor mod to change a line in a config file found on google.

As for MGS1, Im sure someone has got it working on Win7 etc. It may even work without the need for mods? Try searching youtube for videos of MGS1 gameplay on PC, maybe the poster details what spec their machine is and how to get it working.

Not sure if its a DOS or Windows supported game.

Some great collections, really didn't realise how much I missed proper big game boxes and of course manuals that were a lot more than a bloody epilepsy warning :(.

I threw away my collection of boxes. I had GP2, Red Alert, MTV skateboarding and Driver (which I thought was the best game evaaar for years) from our first computer in the midlate 90s. I had the manuals still about a year ago but now they've gone too I think.

I've got a fully boxed version of mech warrior 4. The manual was brilliant and it was great fun reading about the different mechs.

I wish they would start making proper manuals again.

Got Metal Gear working and amazingly it works fine with the XBox 360 controller right off the bat. The only bad thing is the resolution, it's at 1024 x 768 but somehow fits to widescreen but there's a black bar at the bottom of the screen. Still, can't wait to play it later today!
