It's Friday which means payday, which means I can finally replace my GTX560Ti.

Am I right in thinking the GTX670 is the best bang for buck card at the moment for the £200 price range? Also, how well would one card be for 1440p gaming at high settings? I know I'd need to SLI for max performance but how much of an improvement would I see over a GTX560Ti at 1440p?

I can't really justify going SLI at the moment due to funds but if the single card setup would be enough for now I'm ready to hit the order button. (Planning to play BF4/GTA 5 on PC when they are out)

Also, are there any downsides to opting for the 4GB over the 2GB model? I'm quite interested in this model:

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks :)

The best bang for buck currently is still the 7950 selling at £189 for either the msi twin frozr or the his ice q boost.

Not sure if u want amd though it does have more VRAM 3 gig instead of 2 and 240 gb's of memory bandwidth instead of 192 gb's which will help with higher res and multi monitor setups.

I can't see there being any downsides for going for the 4gb VRAM card as said above will help in higher res and multi monitor applications better have more and no need it than have to little espically with the new gen games on the horizon.

Used single GTX 670 2GB reference in 1440p and had no real issues. Just don't add to much Anti-Aliasing in the newer game at this res'.

Im using a single 670 @ 1440p

No issues with the games I play ( COD BO2, BF3, Crysis 3, Bio Infinite, MOH ).

If you find the FPS dropping just reduce the amount of AA/AF

Previously had a 7950 and that coped just fine as well :)

ran a single 670 at 1440p for a while, and never really felt restricted.
Just 'upgraded' to SLI, and to be honest the only difference I've noticed is that my computer is noisier at idle and everything is running a degree or 2 hotter :D

you'll be fine with a 670, although as hinted at above, some games may run better on a 7950

I'm running a 680 at 1440p which is only a tad faster and have no problems at all. Can run pretty much all games at max settings (apart from AA which I usually leave at x2).

The 600 series has been replaced so I wouldn't get the 670 today having only 2gb ram and a 256 bus especially with the new consoles on the horizon.

The battlefield 4 beta is live in a months time and may give an indication of where things may be going in terms of vram usage at ultra settings. Then again, it might not.

I would only go with the gtx 670 over the 7950 if I preferred nvidia products over amd.

It seems that the 7950 may last longer having more ram which would benefit the buyer who doesn't change cards often. Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Well I'm a bit of a green boy fan so it's gotta be nvidia for me. I think I will go for the 4gb asus and I can always SLI in the future if I need to.

It'd be higher flat out - each 670 has a TDP of 170w, so that's 340w even before the rest of the system.

With both GPU's flat out over %95 usage on each it peaks at 415W. This is benching as most games rarely run both GPU's flat out hence my power average figure.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered the 4GB Asus. Was tempted to buy 2 but I'll see how it goes with one and if I feel I need the second I'll order it. Should get the card on Tuesday.

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated! Will post some pics when it arrives :P
