Another big fat wedding thread from a recent wedding...

Another set plum on the money AE, there's lovely consistent style coming through when viewing the set.

One minor crit though (and it's entirely a personal taste thing) is that my fav shot of the lot (looking across the lake) has been murdered with that tilt shift effect.

Thanks for sharing!

As with all your wedding threads most shots I love and a few I will just never get but I do like you overall style and your consistency is outstanding. I'm sure the bride and groom are really pleased and that after all is what matters most.

I like them not just because they are well shot, but because they have that indefinable quality of capturing some of the subject's personality through the picture.

really good. I love how you use your VR on your 24-85 to just get those (presumably) handheld wide shots with a bit of movement going on. My canon 24-70 II is a tremendous lens, fast/accurate/sharp as hell...but the lack of vr makes it tricky to get those kind of shots, which i rather regret actually. I wish canon would release a sharp 16-35 or something with VR..i'd be on it so fast ;)

very nice.

my friend is getting married next week and wants me to do his wedding for free!
It is a small wedding so it should be ok.

any tips?

unless you actually want to pursue wedding photography and really think that you could benefit from the experience of doing this one, i wouldn't do it. If it's your friend's wedding, wouldn't you rather be having fun and enjoying the day rather than being stressed about the whole thing? Especially as it's non paid ;)

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm glad on the whole people like it. :)

no i dont really wanna persue wedding photography lol.

i will tell him i will just only take snapshots. thats it lol.Dont expect much from me!

If he's you're friend I would advise him to put his hand in his pocket (if possible), and actually pay for someone who has both experience and is competent.

You may or may not do an amazing job, but until you have shot a wedding you don't know.
When it comes to friendship, it's better not to gamble with things like this imo.
Now it's winter, the low light is only going to add to the stress which is not what you need on you're first time out.
If you get stressed and your friend can see you look worried, it's game over. Try capturing their personality and laughter then.. you can't.. you will just get a bunch of worried looking faces and forced smiles.

I know you have told or will tell them not to expect much, but make it absolutely clear to them they really shouldn't expect much. Otherwise they will likely just think you are nervous and are just trying to unload some of the pressure, but you'l actually be fine on the night.

Maybe also send them the below link.
