Just spotted this as a comment response on the hardocp forum, apparently they're working on replacement front plates to give the 350d and 750d cases more airflow. No more having to hack the crap out of the front plate to get better airflow.

:)

Quote from redbeard one of the Corsair reps.

You're not being ignored. We're working on it as an accessory for both 350D and 750D for people who want the extra airflow.

Iv just got my 750d I love the front panel as standard looks really clean and refined. I don't think air flow is that much of a issue to be honest, it drags a lot of air in from around the panel but I think this idea for the optional panel is also great :) good work as always from corsair.

up to 5c difference if you measure it :)

Is that gpu or CPU and on air or water with a rad at the front?.
On air my specs in cig, I idle at 35c if I have both the front fans and rear exhaust and my sp120 quiet edition on full speed, and load of 62cor if I have them all on the slowest running speed possible, almost silent I idle at 42c and load temps of 71c. I always run my fans silent though unless I'm in a game. Oh them was my
Processor temps btw :)

By the way nice man cave you have pal :) i always read the updates, great work!

Shame there's nothing been announced for the 900D

Personally think they could make a lot of money with aftermarket parts for the obsidian series (especially if they did an optical drive bay stealth cover)

i run 2 intakes Noctua (140mm) at 50% cpu is 49-55c on air gpu 65-75c on air
no exhuast
:)

and cheers :)

No exhaust fan? :O I have one of them akasa 6 fan controllers with the knobs, at the moment I got the stock af140s, iv modded them a bit so they have rubber between the case and the fans for less noise and I run them at literally the lowest amount of power before they turn off lol. still a bit audiable over my SP120 quiet edition on my cpu.

my gpus idle around 35c reguardless if I have the fans on high or low in the case, and load is 75c with the case fans on high and 80c with them on low :)

Which these days can easily be the difference between a graphics card throttling and not throttling. Just looking at the Corsair forums and "Corsair George" has the following to say.

I am working on a solution to see if it can be done quickly and cheaply enough that you guys would care about it. No sense in doing it if it's going to be a $40 part, and also no sense in doing it if it will take 6 months.

I *THINK* it can be done in a couple months and at a reasonable cost, but I have to make sure engineering tests my idea to make sure it's feasible.

That's where we are right now.

I'm looking at it for both 350D and 750D right now. The 250D doesn't have the issue.

That being said his reply was on the third of July whereas the other guy on the Hardocp forum was on the 17th of July so as he sounded more positive it looks to be moving forward. Corsair have said that in their tests it made little difference, if that's the case why since the 750d have other cases come out in the obsidian series with a meshed front panel?

Fantastic move on their part. I really love companies that listen to their customers and make efforts to provide what they want. Looks forward to seeing these new covers :)

The meshed front was the only thing that was putting me off upgrading from a 350D to 450D for a while as I never had any problems with temps in the 350D.

In the end I went for it anyway as I needed the extra space in the 450D.

If only they'd offer a clean front cover option for the 450D I'd have the perfect case :)

"Our first prototype didn't work the way we hoped. We're tooling a second prototype now (more similar to 450D style) and we should get it later this month to test and approve.

If it works we begin tooling which means the product would be ready in about two months.

Looking at both 350D and 750D for this option."

Update. Still a couple months off :(

I must say, I've never had any airflow problem with my 750D. shame about the wait but these new panels will hopefully help a lot of people with their temps (or make them realise that the front panel had nothing to do with it)

I don't have a problem with my temperatures but, when I'm gaming I take the front panel off so more air can get in.
My top graphics card doesn't need it's fans to spin as fast by doing this making my system quieter, yes you can hear the front fans more but its quieter than my top graphics card spinning like hell to keep cool.

Put your hand inside your case and feel the air off the front fans with the cover on then the cover off you will be amazed at the difference in air pushing against your hand

I'm also not impressed with the front drive bays on the 750D - It spoils the design as soon as you fit something into them.

Corsair should look at some sort of 5.25" plates that they could easily provide so that any additions can sit flush with the rest of the front rather than sitting recessed in and exposing the cheap looking plastic behind them
