Apparently..

The problem it seems is actually caused by packet loss / jamming, the server is sending huge amounts of data to your PC when ever there is a lot of action going on and for some people it can cause a slowdown of sorts while it waits for those packs to be received and / or processed.

It happens to me on Locker when i'm in the middle of a really intense battle hot-spot.

This Youtube explains how it can be fixed with SG TCP Optimiser
Full support for Win 7, partial for win 8, none for Win 8.1.

I have not tried this as i do run Win 8.1 and its not compatible.

Don't mess about with TCP settings, unless you know your taking risks of something going wrong :)

If anyone knows of a similar app compatible for Win 8.1 please let me know, i want to give this a try. thanks.

Mantle has fixed all of my stuttering issues and FPS drops. DX in comparison is just unplayable for me.

Mantle just feels like DX on my 780 for me. It wasn't perceivably different. I'm still yet to try DX on the 290 since I swapped so not sure how that feels.

I do get a lot of crashes on Mantle... though it's random. Sometimes it won't crash then for hours and then other times it's constantly crashing. This happens at stock and while OC'd :(.

Need to try different drivers I think.

Probably won't notice the difference since you have quite a beefy CPU already but with my i5 750...... :p

Haven't had any crashes etc. with mantle yet *touch wood* Also, not sure, but I think maps/games load quicker with mantle too.

Using the latest stable drivers, 14.4 I think. I don't bother with anything for AMD except the display driver so no CCC, afterburner etc.

Yeah I'm on 14.7s. As they're 'beta' drivers that was definitely my first port of call. I only have the drivers installed too though I do run AB for monitoring / applying OC but I've already ruled out the OC causing issues as it happens at stock. I've also tried other games and left them either looping or running for a couple of hours and it's still been going just fine when I get back.

So I can conclude based on that, for me, it's either Mantle or drivers. I'm betting the latter but I just haven't got round to testing it yet.

im getting huge FPS drops recently, im running a FX 8320 @4.6 and have a 7990 @ stock, im also running a 144hz monitor so i need the high FPS.

its happened on all maps for me, it would be at 100-110FPS then drop to the 90's then 50's and somtimes below 30!

it never used to do this, im going to try DX and see if its any better

btw im running 14.6 drivers

Guys, if they implement the changes from CTE into the main game, stuttering and spiking will be a distant bad memory. The difference is unbeleivable, ive had no end of stuttering/spiking in the main game.

Havent tried this optimizer thingy, but merely closing battleslug leads to a better experience. Just went 16/8 on a paracel tdm round, (joined with a few mins left). The vid in the op shows spiking identical to what i get. Will try later with perfoverlay running, (deleted my user cfg the other day). Also trying to play this again on my old g15 keyboard is a joke, miss my mech board.

What was wrong with the G15? i have a G110.

I had the g15 for years mate, then bought an ozone strike pro red switch mechanical board. Much more responsive for gaming and much nicer to use. Sadly it has a fault where it will randomly disconnect.

Tried this tcp optimizer, helped a bit as i got less cpu spiking, even closing bl worked a bit too. Not CTE level of smoothness but still better, (win7 64 btw). Im getting another gtx 780 tomorrow, so that will help a good deal with min fps.

Thanks for the feedback on both, shame TCP-OP is not win 8.1 compatible.

isn't this stuttering to do with the high frequency network updates which you can set at low- med-high in the game play options, it does say setting too high can cause issues ?
