Built it a couple of days ago not knowing what to expect to be honest and have been pleasantly suprised. This is the spec...

Acer 4k Predator G-Sync
MSI X99 SLI Plus
Haswell E 5820k 4.2GHz
Pallit GTX 980 Super Jetstream
16Gb Crucial 2133 DDR4
Sandisk 240Gb Extreme Pro SSD
Crucial AX760 Power Supply

I initially thought about 2x 980's but I only play Warcraft, BF4 and Diablo 3 mainly. Instead I decided to invest in a GSync 4k monitor instead of the extra 980 first.

Warcraft: ultra detail and everything maxed out. Runs super smooth in all the new Draenor areas and raids. Not noticed any stutter or frame loss at all. Monitoring the frame rate it does dip to the low 50's occasionally but because of GSync this is imperceptible. Super sharp and stunning. Thoroughly happy.

BF4: I maxed out everything to ultra to start off and although it wasn't 60fps smooth it was nicely playable. After playing about ten mins the slight dips in frames even with GSync was a bit distracting. Looked through the settings and noticed I had AA on so having 4k I turned it off completely but left everything else maxed out. Bingo, super smooth and the frame counter shows a constant 59-60fps and gameplay is buttery smooth. Again it looks stunning at ultra 4k and I just wanted to gaze at the scenery! Couldn't notice any difference with AA turned off due to the sharpness of the 4k resolution.

Diablo 3: an older game now but with everything maxed out it is buttery smooth so not much to report. Again looks stunning.

Just wanted to write this for anyone else thinking about 4k gaming. Before I took the plunge I just read lots of negative reports. GSync makes the difference with one 980, if you turn it off you get the stutters and slight frame drops. Not massive but enough to annoy.

If you want 120Hz+ gaming then obviously this isn't for you but I prefer detail/clarity before extreme frames. 60fps is great for me and this setup has delivered at 4k :) very happy so far.

Ps. I have not tried Crysis ;)

No probs, what did you want photos of?

I have also tried War Thunder at max detail and that is buttery smooth at 60fps. Looks nearly real!

Also care to give your thoughts on the subject of the Windows scaling issue having experience 4k? How does it feel reading text, and so on and so forth?

I set scaling to 200%. Windows, Office 365 and Photoshop/Lightroom look great and so do the games. Steam looks a bit fuzzy and some older utilities. I would say 90% of the time it's great and the other 10% just need to catch up and release HiDPI compatible versions. It's not something to worry about.

Hard on a photo but hopefully you can see it here, Word and Chrome are great but the Steam text is blocky...

How do you find it on just day to day usage?

That's some really great FPS you are showing there for a single 980!

Just filmed that on my phone of War Thunder at 4k ultra settings. So smooth and looks real! All the trees and buildings are individually rendered 3d objects.

Day to day use is fine, did my work on it today, no issues.

Glad you're enjoying 4K. I tried a 4K monitor but after a short while it was giving me a headache for some reason and I didn't like the feel of it.

You can join the ocuk BF4 clan now.

I been playing it all afternoon/tonight.

But just stopped as we tend to kill servers and everyone leaves as they cant take the ass whopping we dish out.

We on most nights.

Warcraft clips...

Stormshield is a hefty area and runs at 50fps but GSync keeps it at a solid 60fps feel...

A couple of quickies...

Cheers Stu, system is a mess at the moment. I will get some pictures over the weekend.

Yes you are right about Steam. I have made the videos public now, sorry.

I will get some better quality ones of Warcraft.
