Just installed the upgrade and absolutely hated it.

I found it slow ugly awkward and not very user friendly.

It treats users like idiots for example you don't get any control over windows update.

The browser is pig ugly and worse than IE.

You have to be very careful if you don't want to use a password to log on.

It won't let me put the stuff I want on the start menu.

My friend tried to install it and 48 hours later it still has not finished and it looks like she will have to format the HDD to get rid of it.

All in all I think it is rubbish, I also think I am in the minority.

Bring back MS DOS for speed and productivity lol.

Dunno what PC you have but have had no problems. Boots faster than my monitor takes to wake from standby.

There is a windows 10 subsection for all things windows 10 related.

how about doing clean install?

I did 3 upgrades - one was somewhat ok, other half broken and the 3rd was completely unusable. clean install all and it's all good.

My current PC on Windows 7 boots that fast. If you weren't getting that before Windows 10, then it must be the SSD performance. Maybe an older model? It could also be that our monitors are too slow to turn on.

I've not yet upgraded on my new PC. My 8.1 Tablet was reserved for an upgrade, but it's been turned off and disconnected from the internet for over a month. I'm too lazy to turn it on and let it upgrade. If I were to get Win10, I wouldn't want to clean install, only because I'd have to install all my programs (nearly 2 months worth XD) and configure the settings all over again. Programs being installed on a different hard drive doesn't do jack.

Like the smart folks, I'm going to wait till all the hubbub dies down and we can come to a general consensus on what Windows 10 does, how to best install it and any settings we might want to modify first thing. Oh and as others have said, the only feature of Win10 I'm interested in is DX12 and right now there aren't any DX12 games. So I'm good waiting for several months.

I've installed Windows 10 on one laptop, Windows 10 Pro on 2 PCs and 1 laptop and Window 10 Enterprise on 2 servers and didn't have a single issue.

All clean installs. I'd never risk doing an upgrade - I bet there's a ton of system files left over from the previous OS which aren't explicitly used by Windows 10 but may be used instead when an application runs which causes conflicts.

I started on DOS so have fond memories ,yes much higher learning curve then modern Windows, however saying Win10 is the worst ever?..I like Win10,now if you said WinME I would agree .

Agree with most of that. Took 10 attempts to upgrade tablet, health of image wasn't found to be a problem so no reason why Windows Update should have failed or the media creation tool. Took a reset of W8.1 in the end to get the upgrade to work but this shouldn't have been necessary as W8.1 was fully up to date. Just bad testing and rushed out the door again imho. The browser is pants, especially if used on a tablet since all the controls are at the top. The start menu I think is an improvement, but the multiple desktops and some UI stuff is confusing and not very intuitive to find where you want to be or get back to where you've been. Par for the course with a lot of software development these days as there's too much rush to get it out the door and fix stuff later, first impressions don't seem to rate as highly as they once did.

Assuming you're not deploying advanced sarcasm, then I know it's a cliché but everyone's mileage will vary

I know some will have issues but to dismiss this as the "Worst version ever" seems a little dramatic.

Personally no issues.

Want to ensure i have the latest updates? OK.

Don't like Edge?...Use IE

Everything I want is on the taskbar or the start menu

As for DOS...Yeah, bring back autoexec.bat & config.sys with all the devicehigh and IRQ nonsense that came with it.

(Or preferably don't)

There is no point in basing anything on an upgrade. Do a fresh install then give an opinion on it. I had problems with the upgrade during the brief time I had it but have had no problems with it since doing a fresh install.

IE is also still available and not being removed, edge is an alternative.

Also, for most people I have discussed w10 with, gaming is also significantly improved on w10.

I am of the opinion w10 is the best one yet.

best version yet imo

Agreed.

It is like Win7 but faster and more intuitive. Really good move from 8.1.

And these comments I read about 'clean' installs is just bs. It is 2015 not 2005. Refresh the OS without keeping files and it will do a full 'clean' install without the faff.

I think I know how to build a PC and put an OS on it.:p

Some time in the future I will have to use Win10 as I need DX12, at that point I will buy several copies so I can do clean installs.

To reiterate my earlier comment, please do a fresh install before dismissing windows 10. Upgrade means f all.

Exactly. If people want to dismiss something due to errors with user, leave them to it.

Kaap - I still don't know if you're being sarcastic or not but my comments are based around the general consensus. I think you're more of a sane mind to fresh install based around everything you do.
