Windows 10 is it the worst ever version ?

It just feels over bloated, probably not that many bloat programs in there but somehow to me it just feels like it is. Windows 8.1 feels more stripped back to basics and doesnt force onedrive onto you.

As to your other point I don't know as much as a lot of the guys in this forum but I don't have any trouble diagnosing the cause of a slow OS it is quite immortant for what I use my PCs for. One of the possible causes would be doing an upgrade instead of a clean install lol.

i think your just messing with us

we've told u many times to do a clean installation of win10. but your simply ignoring it.

Even vista is better then 10. I for one had no issues with vista, but meny did.

But you've only tried a preview of windows 10 so you can't really compare.

I did an ypgrade from 8.1 and gotta say I have no issues like others are having:) Onedrive has took a step backwards though LOL.
Games seem smoother too, but maybe that's just me.

I have installed win10 on a couple of older machines mainly for testing before committing to it (if ever) on main machine. I am however finding Win10 almost unbearably slow on a mechanical drive, more so on the laptop. It seems to be doing a lot of background work hitting the hd and slowing the whole os down while it does it, the exact same problem windows vista had.

Sure it would run better on main system and ssd and get through its tasks a lot quicker, but as it is it is making the laptop unusable and the other pc (PhenomII 965 based) sluggish. Even the sound is strangely sluggish which odd pitch bending effects going on (using x-fi extreme). In my case I see win10 not being viable on older hardware where win8.1 runs so much better and will keep these older machines still usable and up-to-date. First thing I did after a clean install was disable all the privacy busting options, although the lowest feedback setting is basic instead of off hmmm. Then made sure all the drivers were installed and update and nothing missing in device manager.

Note that I do have a low tolerance to having to wait for things to load/windows to open just because the od has decided to do some background work. so even if the difference in milliseconds, I notice and get annoyed easily. I am quite spoiled by ssd, and would never go back to mechanical hd on my main work/gaming machines. ;)

With the exception of onedrive taking a step back (which has been explained) this is a step forward in every way.

a lot of possible customisation is available for the petty who don't want to update because the recycle bin doesn't look right.

I didn't play around with the technical preview, but I did upgrade when it was generally available. The upgrade was so uneventful it was positively boring. For the most part it's really not that different to my Win 8.1 installation although I no longer need to use start8.

I find it amusing when you get a group of drama queens who state that "this is the worst version ever released!" or "so buggy it's unusable!". In the grand scheme of things, it's a nice incremental upgrade but that's about it.

I also noticed, that I never had any issue when I got Vista when that was first released, no issues with Win 7 when that was released, 8/8.1 wasn't that eventful either. Perhaps the common dominator is the person doing the installs and upgrades?

I am not ignoring anything, I am not in any hurry to put Win 10 back on my PC.

Having said that next time it will be via a clean install.

As to if a person likes Win 10, no 2 people are the same and can have very different views on what is good or bad.

My personal view on Win 10 is it has become the nanny OS and that I find very irritating.

Indeed - unfortunately you'll largely encounter the "rar rar windows 10 is great" cheerleading squad around here who'd still be saying how great and flawless it was even if it was a spectacular failure (which it isn't) but it certainly isn't without its problems.

What is with all this attempted polarization of people on here, trying to force them to fit a stereotype? It's called an opinion. Just because Kaap has a bad experience doesn't make him an idiot for example.

Kaap, there are plenty of ways to get rid of the stuff you don't like in the OS, and add stuff you do. Take a look at the Windows 10 faq for some ideas.

I will definitely be turning stuff off in Win10, I find with every new release of Windows the list of stuff that needs getting rid of gets longer and longer.:)

This is because the reality is that there never was a problem with Vista

It only got bad press due to the driver change, really small performance hit in benchmarks and things due to the new skinned UI, and probably UAC. By the time Win7 came round newer drivers for older hardware had been released (not all) and people realised the benefits of UAC.

nobody is saying windows 10 is perfect because it isn't. theres bugs and little issues.

but the point we making is if he does a clean install of w10 most of his dislikes such as slow performance, start menu issues etc may be solved.

even he said himself the possible causes would be doing an upgrade instead of a clean install. so why start a thread with "Windows 10 is it the worst ever version ?" when he hasn't even tried clean install

I found the biggest fault with Vista was the hardware that it was installed on. A relative of mine had a laptop which came pre-installed with Vista, and it was virtually unusable. After 12 months of windows updates it was taking 10 minutes to boot, so I was asked to sort it out. It had 1gig of memory and a 4200rpm spinner!

I doubled the ram, fitted a 7200 rpm drive and loaded Windows 7. The beast has been a pleasure to use ever since, despite the Celeron chip in it. Microsoft's partners really need to make machines that make the best of an OS, not give it a bad reputation.

Having a rant while refusing to do a clean install which would almost certainly solve most of his problems does make him look rather silly.

The 'zero attempt to fix anything and instead just declare it crap' attitude is rather opposed to the declaration that most people in here made about how they are 'enthusiasts who regularly change hardware' when that helped them rant a about the single device upgrade.

Its as if having something to rant about is more important to them than having a working OS...
