So we're currently having a debate at work regarding who still buys CDs instead of downloading or streaming music over the net.

I was wondering if any of you guys still buy CDs and what reasons you have for doing so?

This could be interesting...

Possible someone can make a poll please?

CDs, DVDs, BluRays and all disc formats need to die. They're slow, noisy, bulky.

Don't know why latest consoles are still using such an old fashioned format.

To answer the OP's question, haven't used a CD or DVD in years. I no longer own a DVD player or CD/DVD drive.

I buy them secondhand as I still enjoy listening to albums, especially with the better quality on my hi fi. I also use tidal for most of my music now, but I like having a hard copy with the booklets etc which I know I can still play in ten years time should I want to.

Still buy them, like the hard copy, notes, etc. The collection is large and played on quality hi-fi equipment. I use digital versions for car, pc and phones. We're also still using and buying vinyl.

Yes I still buy quite a few CDs and that doesn't look like it will change any time soon ...

- the CDs I buy are not from artists who release in the UK
- the music is not available from any of the UK streaming sources
- the CDs come with bonus DVDs with music videos and extra content
- the CDs frequently come with external physical bonuses

They get ripped for listening though.

I've still got several hundred cd's and cd singles mainly from mid 80's to 2000. All digital converted and all my music sits on my file server so I access that and stream. Also hold a substantial amount of HQ mp3s on my Note 4's 128 gig SD card. Don't buy cd's unless it's the only way to get a HQ source. Dvds absolutely not and occasionally a bluray maybe. Stream everything video wise from home server.
