How many of you still use CDs?

I'm always shocked for years how much the digital version can be from the physical even with postage. Anything from £10 to £35 extra. Most games I see on there are £59.99 then a sale is classed as £39.99. Let alone the gold, deluxe super charged editions from £70 and up.

Makes sense from a business perspective; retailers are already offering the titles at lower prices that the majority will pay, so why not charge extra for the 'convenience' of a download? People are clearly happy to pay it, you need only visit the console forum to see people proudly announcing that their entire games library is digital.

I still buy them, I rip them to MP3 for iPod's etc, and then as FLAC for home audio needs. I still listen to the actual CDs though a TAG CDT20r though as I find there is a noticeable difference in quality compared to a FLAC playing Squeezebox.

Oddly I have just started to buy them again. Probably bought 20 albums in last few weeks. Ripping as FLAC of course. Slowly replacing all my MP3 downloads with CD FLAC rips. I think having the CDs looks nice too on my shelves.

Stick some self adhesive felt to the bottom, trim around with a knife and ya have your self some trendy mug mats with all your favourite bands on.

I bought some cheap mini wooden easels from Amazon to display some of my CDs, the cover art is superb and part of why I really like having the physical thing.

I just can't imagine buying music that is only a file. The other week I asked a question about the best place to get some Brian Setzer CDs and several people replied with downloading from Amazon or similar. I want something I can hold in my hands even though it will be converted to Flac and put on a shelf.

No no no, I can understand people displaying album covers but not CD covers.
However that just shows how time has progressed that somebody is now willing to display CD covers.
The older members will remember when you bought that vinyl and you'd sit down with it like a book/piece of art and hold while you listened to the album.
Some of us even put that new album in a plastic sleeve and carry it round the streets so it would be a talking point.

After ripping my CD's to MP3 320 I have now learnt the error of my ways and have just started ripping them to Flac.
Anybody who thinks MP3 320 are as good as Flac need a lobotomy.

Haha I made this mistake and learnt the hard way like you.

I don't tend to buy brand new chart CDs as they are still £10+, I will listen to them on Apple Music which the Mrs pays for. She has the latest MacBook which has a very good dac, we cannot tell the difference between apples format and CDs. Using my cheap Windows laptop the difference is clear

If the music is from 70's/80's I try get on vinyl but only if it's pristine, fair price (sub £10) and plays perfect (not worn out)
90's stuff I buy on cd for £1.99 on eBay

Same story with blurays I will buy them once they are a fair price ie around £5. Latest one I bought was Spectre for £10

I like to own a physical product and watch is spinning around ect

I also like hifi equipment such as amps, AV receivers, CD players, bluray players, tape decks and turn tables. I just find it more fun then clicking on a computer file
